Trapdoor Spider Ambushes Unsuspecting Miners

This week, I made another mine cross section occupied by a terrifying spider. This time round the spider in question is a trapdoor spider waiting patiently for some unfortunate miners.

They thought the mule didn't want to cross because it wasn't a solid surface. Burt had heard from his cousin that cows wouldn't cross metal grates for fear of their hooves falling in the holes and figured something similar might be in play here. Little did they know, the animal could just barely smell something, just barely hear something, something that told it death was waiting below. You live in these parts long enough, you learn to reach for your gun, any time the critters get spooked by something out of sight. It could be something normal... Or it could be something worse.

seeing this scenario play out in a super high-quality animation would be crazy! the spider bursting out from under the bridge, and a claustrophobic fight scene where the miners fend off claws and fangs with their rusty shovels. I imagine one of the miners lopping off one of the spider's legs, and the thing squeals, trailing blood as it backs into the dark again.

Sure, a Netflix series would be amazing : there would be feminist female monster hunters with pink green hair (ethnic and sexual minority or your choice), who battles against cismale jealous monster hunters, and they are the real monsters because of their bigotry, and then there's this specially big monster that will come to destroy the small mining city, and all the males and the patriarchy have the worst ideas, everybody's going to die because they're stupid and intolerant and because they won't listen to her because she's a strong and independant woman (and a lesbian, and a minority of dark skin), but in the end she saves everyone and defeat the monster, and we learn that's the non-sustainable greed and damage to the nature by the patriarchical mining of mother earth ressources that had awoken the giant monster, which was only a legitimate defense mechanism of loving Nature, while the cismale are the real threat and evil. There. Done for you.

I’m speechless, You should definitely tap into the “van meter visitor”, it’s an pterosaur like creature that was spotted in Iowa 1903 in the mid west. the monster has a great wings and a horn that glows a blinding light and was said to fly around and would reside in the mines. Reports say it loves to perch on top of roof tops, I think it would fit perfectly into your Wild West aesthetic.

When selecting miners for a horror diorama, it is very important you source _Doomed_ Miners. The visible details are subtle, but it's the difference between creating a realistic minecraft inspired piece and portraying a mine full of lurking unspeakable horrors the miners only recourse against to be aware of them, or if they might be getting black lung.

I certainly hope you used the Luke Towan techniques to build that mine! Also, I had a fascinating idea for a building to be added to the town, perhaps some sort of forge-esque building. The way I see it, it'd be two floors, the top floor (which could have a staircase going up to it on the outside) would be living quarters. But, then on the bottom floor, half of it could be fairly open, with pillars on the corners to hold up the overhanging second floor, and all the forge equipment would be on display, or even mid-usage if you could make it like that. I think the actual enclosed half of the bottom floor could have a massive barn-esque sliding door, though it'd be closed for the model, to give the illusion like there might be more equipment or materials stored inside the building. I'm not sure how well this idea could work, but I think you could find a way to make it work very well within your world, and I'd love to hear what you think of it!

dude someone needs to make a tv series with this stuff. Steampunk wild west / horror go insanely well together and your projects really work as a great proof of concept.

This video randomly popped up in my feed. I originally thought it was going to be a real spider until I realised I was on some hobby channel. I watched the entire video and I'm not even a hobbyist. This is awesome content. Instant sub.
