i can not do when i choose shallow it change to Transparency?

I’m illustrator, just use subtract in the pathfinder tool or use the shape builder tool.

Are you saying this can be done in Adobe illustrator?

My "Shallow" part doesn't become transparent like in the video but looks like part of the background after being cropped

Just figured it out if you haven't yet. you need to put the text layer and the black in a group.
