    A point of correction. This technically is a trans fluid drain and not a flush. A flush is when you hook up a machine to your trans cooler line and run new fluid through the transmission which many mechanics don't recommend. What you replaced...about a gallon of old fluid you drained out and therefore refilled is only about 1/2 of the total trans fluid in the system. CVT's like your Honda has, as with conventional discrete shifting automatic transmissions, they also have a torque converter which is filled with trans fluid that isn't drained with your procedure. In summary, you are only draining about 1/2 of the total fluid from your trans with this procedure. Hope that helps others.

    How is the Amsoil CVT fluid performing? I recommended it (drain and fill) to my sister for her Infiniti QX60 at 70k miles and it caused torque converter shudder. 😔 Infiniti dealer ended up saying she needs to get a transmission flush with the OEM Nissan NS-3 fluid. I’m scared to ever use Amsoil again. I got my Lexus drained and filled with Amsoil Signature ATF and no problems but the CVT fluid I wouldn’t ever recommend again.

    Kayla, you wan't to start the car to temp then drain trans fluid while it's hot pour old oil in empty gallon bottle to measure exactly what came out so you're accurate refill again. pour in fluid start and let run again for 15 min with fresh oil then re-drain again to get the convertor of old fluid out, mark another gallon bottle for re-measurement (2x) pour in fresh fluid again check dip stick go through gears good to go i had a 2017 Nissan Versa with the CVT . if this helped give me a Kayla.

    Normally in a conventional automatic transmission I wouldn't flush it, I would just drain and refill. I would only flush it if it was more or less not working at all because then you have nothing to lose. But you are right to flush a CVT. They are a different animal and you have to maintain them differently.

    I looked it up and they recommend switching it out every 30,000 miles. But it's sad I had to look it up to know this information. No one ever reminds you to change the Trans fluid! Glad you know as well!!

  • @teflon_don93

    @teflon_don93

    Жыл бұрын

    @@KaylaRundle They learned better in later years. The system on some of these will tell you how much the fluid has degraded. My first CVT was a 2014 year Subaru Outback. When they said "lifetime Fluid", as an AMSOIL person, i knew that was lie. 30,000 miles sounds more like it. Im sure after many replacements, they wised up. I now have a 2011 i bought for my wife. Im planning to do a change on all the fluids shortly including the CVT. Im still getting used to it. i do not really have any to compare it too. In response to having to look it up, when i first had the 2014, they made it seem like an impossible task to change the CVT fluid. I think it was something they just wanted to rob you at the dealer with.

  • @KaylaRundle

And there should be a filter in the cvt fluid warmer as well, I believe underneath the battery box (which would need removed along with the battery). I don't think that's recommended to change either though, maybe at like 100k miles it would be worth it. Also is that a giant skeleton in the background? lmao
