A baby Robin fell into my yard 3 summers ago. His parents did not find him after dark. I checked all day long. He saw me so I spoke to him. He has come back, this is 3rd year now. Buzzes house, cheeps, then waits. I come out, find him and we 'talk'. God looks after the birds. Mr. Cheers is always fat and beautiful.

Oh my friend! We have one bee box (5 layers of boxes sitting on each other) and last year my husband cultivated 120 lbs. of honey! Ask for help with this... you will LOVE the free honey as it tastes so good! We trade ours for eggs and beef with people who raise those animals. Have courage... it is not difficult once you learn how. Another thing... the bees are generally 'sweet' around those who care for them and will amaze you with their personalities... not even kidding you! Enjoy this new adventure. It is most satisfying when you reap the rewards. Your friend from Canada.

Hi Catherine this was so interesting about the hives can’t wait to watch your progress. My new nature thing this year is a bird box with a camera inside. It’s so addictive watching the house sparrows build a nest so Im hoping to see wee baby birds . But at the minute I have my hands full with my new pup and she finally has a name … Daisy . She’s a 4 mth old shih tzu and just a wee bundle fluff and so cute. Have a lovely Easter 🐣💖🙋🏻‍♀️ Patricia x.

We have a Ryobi lawnmower as well, but it’s the more powerful version. Our property is steeply sloped at the front and side and the mower handles it like a dream. It even has power assist that helps for the steepest inclines. Granted the mower itself is much heavier than our old corded version, but the battery lasts for the whole of the mowing which takes a couple of hours to do. We also use Ryobi power tools with the 18v battery, but knew we needed to use the beefier mower/battery for the garden. Now we just need to upgrade our Ryobi strimmer to a higher voltage version.

Hi Catherine 👋🏻 I’m Lia 👩🏻‍🦱 from Brisbane, Australia 🇦🇺 It’s Easter Long Weekend here and myself and my husband have had a weekend full of gardening jobs out in the beautiful weather we’re having in Autumn. 🍂 Since discovering your channel, I love to watch one of your episodes for inspiration and motivation before I head out to work in our gardens. We have fully landscaped front and back gardens comprising of ornamental and kitchen gardens. Like you, I’m also still learning and still consider myself an amateur when it comes to gardening. I started gardening just three years ago when we got our home professionally landscaped and learn something new every day I’m out in it. I also have a bird bath, bird house and insect house as well want to create our own little eco system. I love ok forward to watching many more of your old and new videos. Happy Easter! 🐰

Your yard is always so pretty. It's a cool windy and wet day here in Oregon. Never dis on the rain because usually after June it's gone. I went out and picked rhubarb for Easter Sunday Dinner and I had blossoms on my Italian plum trees. So excited I have loads of berry bushes and a small orchard. I am only going to allow the trees to get no higher than 5 feet tall. Any way I see your kittens are out with you and that is fun also. Have a blessed Easter weekend Catherine.

We all have to start somewhere, right? My front yard is full of leaves from two towering oak trees that drop their leaves all winter. During the summer they provide WONDERFUL shade but they can feel like an annoyance. I too have lacked motivation as we have had three consecutive months of SO MUCH RAIN I feel any plants I have are struggling to survive. I feel waterlogged as well. So you aren’t alone. Yes, I love my RYOBI tools but you do need more than one battery. 😊

Of course it is a roller coaster of nice days and fridgid days, but nice to have some flowers for Easter. We leave our evergreen wreaths and porch pots til March when things warm up, but this year when we were going to remove the wreaths, one had a mommy, a nest, and 5 little blue eggs...so it remains til they are finished!

I forgot you were doing the beehives, can’t wait to see how things go with you here in a couple more months. When I was young, we had five or six beehives on our property. Of course my dad had a candy company and the shavings from the lollipops as they came down the conveyor belt and, for lack of words shake the excess off that’s what we would put out for them to gather some of their nectar suites from and not only that all the wildflowers they would go and get their nectar from. But there was one year that the beekeeper had to come out and remove two queens and take them to different hives in different places because they were fighting against each other when you came out with perfume deodorant or hair products that had a smell to them they immediately went to because they thought you were a flower. So the only way that we could get rid of them from attacking us when we came out the house was to remove the two queen bees, and place them in two separate locations so they could have their own hives and they did quite well. So I will be interested to see how you and your bees get along.

I’m excited for you taking up beekeeping. You certainly nailed all the details about your little hive. Bees are so fascinating, and every day you learn more and more about them. I took up beekeeping in 2019 starting with one nuc of Italian bees. I now have several hives due to splitting hives to deter swarming, and catching swarms from my hives. It’s such an interesting and challenging ‘hobby’. As I’m in SE Australia I’m now in the process of packing down my hives and getting them ready for the winter. I look forward to seeing more of your beekeeping journey🐝🍯

You go girl we love bees. I live in southern CA and it is raining or a wind storm not a normal spring. I love the bee box you built, it is beautiful! I love how you keep planting and adding to your yard. It is going to "bee" stunning.

Lovely video Catherine, I agree it’s so hard getting motivated when it’s so cold and wet, but once you start, you get your gardening muscles going again!! 😊 loved the wooden sleeper edging, looks really good, your border will be so full and established this year, and it will look beautiful .❤

I was tired of buying gas mowers. The littlest thing made them break and i couldn't do the pulling motion quick enough to fire it up. I bought a electric cord plug in type model. I already had an outdoor cord. The mower is the same size as your rechargeable. It is so light weight and the electricity makes it very powerful. It is almost like vacuuming because of the light weight.😂 Lovely video as always.

You can get converters for the battery packs so you can use other brands. My husband does a lot of woodworking and has a few different brands of tools and uses the battery packs interchangeably

I did my first bit of gardening today. I live in Ontario Canada, the days are still a bit cold, but the tulips and daffodils are just popping their shy heads above the soil. It was so satisfying ❤ keep the faith my girl, it will all come together, one day at a time.

Happy spring! I know what you mean about being a little unmotivated. But as soon as it warms up a bit and I see the sun more, I'm better. I love that paint color. Mossy green is a favorite. You sound a little raspy. Hope you are feeling OK. The wind kicks up a lot of molds and mildews. Yup, I get the flying rubbish, too. Your garden is looking beautiful. Thanks for an awesome video.

Love seeing how your garden is so lovely with your blooming flowers. I am looking forward to get out in my own little garden. We recently had a small snow storm, thing that is the last for the year. However you can never be sure here in Canada. My son is building me a small Green House, can't wait for the finished project. As always love watching all you videos. Much love from Canada ❤️

Oh, Catherine on that black paint it could also be a roofer's cement which is black and thick and a very good product. It is applied with a paint brush that should be discarded after so use an old one. 👍

Just a comment on the Ryobi electric mower. You may find it underpowered compared to your old one because you have the 18v. Neighbor bought one of those; but, his used 2 18v batteries with a 16" deck. Seemed do do well enough for our suburban lawns. I have the larger version with a 21" deck with the 40v 4ah battery. I love this thing. So much better than my old petrol mower. No tune ups, oil changes, or worries about stale gas. Much quieter, easier to use, and lighter. I'll never go back to the petrol lawn equipment.
