The way the grain runs in that handle, and the exaggerated curves, ensure that the handle will split.

Thankfully, after a year of heavy use, the handle is still going strong and hasn’t split.

Be careful grinding on steel on your belt sander. I found the plastic dust outlet melted by red hot particles off the steel when I did so. Loved the handle.

Good choice w the orange paint, it has a story to tell. Burn your name onto the handle, it may out last us all.

Why did you leave the ugly orange paint on it ?

  • @HelloAdam_

I experiment with the different axes I work on. I felt with this one I wanted to preserve some of the history of the axe’s journey. So I decided to leave the paint on and only clean it and buff it up.

Wrong decision ! . . . . To leave that orange paint on it. It diminishes the look of the axe. Rating of a 6.5 INCOMPLETE !
