Not to mention deathsaurus was the leader of the decepticons and had the combaticons for shock troops but was defeated and killed by a young megatron and when the combaticons refused to fall under the leadership of megatron he had the Sparks and personality components torn out of their bodies and placed in a secret hidden locked vault to keep them there until many years later in search of troops starscream found the long lost combaticons parts and placed them into old ww2 vehicles to become the combaticons mk-2 and fight megatron for leadership of the decepticons.

There’s something hysterically awesome about how Animated Sky-Byte uses Lugnut’s body-type. Also crazy how he basically represents the RID series in the grand scheme of the franchise.

@@alexlemonds2838 I saw a consep art of sky-byte earth mode, he transforms into a shark-themed submarine, and he looked much more like his version of RiD 2001.

5:05 I would've also loved to have seen Galvatron in the background of the audience, in a callback to the '86 movie, saying "This is bad poetry."

the real Robots in Disguise never gets enough credit for nailing the spirit of the original series. It mixed serious world-threatening plots, with good action and just the right amount of comedy/WTF to make it. Sky-Byte is a perfect example of that in character form.

Personally I found the main issue was that those elements weren't really presented cohesively. Sometimes it would jump back and forth too quickly. But the main issue I had was that half the toyline was recolors of G1 and Beast Wars toys while most of the rest were shellformers. The show was merely okay. But then, I feel the same for G1; it doesn't impress me nearly as much as some older fans insist it should, but has lots of very good individual episodes.

Here, after reading the sad news, RIP Peter Spellos, Thank you for your work in bringing to life one of the most endearing Predacons of RID 2001 and for making Sky-Byte one of my favorite Predacons. At 2:59 I'll never forget that moment besides the Transformation of when Sky-Byte says "Terrorize!", it gives me the idea to order a Sky-Byte toy on eBay to honor Peter Spellos.

I'm surprised RID15 didn't try to bring him back in some form, as it sounds like he would've fit right in with the (mostly) sillier, stylized, animal-themed Decepticons. He was locked up on the *Alchemor* for Volgon poetry-style crimes.

Honestly the first robots in disguise was just an "okay" show. But with Sky-Byte it was a great show. I've wanted him to come back (personality intact) for so long.

Just caught the news. Thank you Spellos for your work in bringing to life one of the most endearing original TF characters of the early 2000s, an era that juggled nostalgia and experimenting with new characters. And that's not to mention all the voice and acting roles beyond TF too. Rest in peace.

I will miss Sky-Byte He was an amazing Shark Sky-Byte, that was him… RIP Peter Spellos

Maybe he'll get another stab at the Hall of Fame once Cyberverse has raised his profile a bit!

Aye! My fishboi finally has some attention! I fell in love with him after getting his generations figure, which brought me to watching Japanese RID series just because of him... was not disappointed.

This was surprisingly sweet. Like showing his poetry off while jazz plays away. A shark of my own heart ♡

Lol this one was one of the few characters my older brother and I could agree on from Robots in Disguise. Oh gosh I remember when he disguised himself as a car to enter a race, that was hilarious!

I really like the 2001 RID cartoon, much more than the 2015 version. Skybite was the highlight of that Cartoon!

Thanks for making this video. As fan of the franchise the one series i lacked any knowledge on was RID. I never understood why Skybyte was such a reoccurring figure, especially since I knew him as Maximal Cybershark.

Thank you for another great video im a G1 guy and i love all the comics, so i am not knowledgeable on skybite. Thank you for helping me discover a cool character i would only know from idw since i didnt watch his show

I never gotten Sky-Byte original toy but the Beast Wars Toy I had as a kid but I did get the Generation toy line version and I always enjoyed playing it.

Sky bite was my first ever transformer. Thanks to that gift, I became a huge fan of transformers.

I loved Robots in Disguise. I didn't grow up with G1, beast wars was my intro to transformers, so this was my first intro to non-BW transformers and Skybite was my dude. He was like the anti-dinobot

Character-wise they are nothing alike. Depth Charge is a vengeful Maximal while Sky-Byte is a lovable Decepticon.

You should. Transformers 2001 Robots In Disguise was an interesting series to watch from start to finish, and the entirety of this series is on KZread to watch and it's also free to do so. So if you have any time to watch, then you can and should go watch Transformers 2001 Robots In Disguise.

Another underdog transformer that I just learned existed, thank you for this great gift

It's nice to have more insight on BotCon Sky-Byte. I always imagined that (like the G1 Predacons), the Quintessons built him for Galvatron, though in my interpretation, he was meant to act as a go-between/interpreter for Decepticon command and the primal Predaking. Ironically, when Energon Sharkticon came out in 2003-04, I printed out his picture from the instructions and colored them in Sky-Byte's colors. I was amazed to see that 2010 Sky-Byte's colors were _almost_ exactly the same (Hasbro used ivory whereas I kept the lavender)!

Skybyte is a precious specimen we must protect

Skybyte is totally loveable, he has a great personalty in RID2001 which is why he became a break out character, but then I do love much of that show, its by far one of my favourte TF series, it take everything that good about TF, keeps the spirt and adds more comedy with a lot of intersting characters, thou the Decepticons weren't really a big of a threat after their debut ep in the series, still the show is one I remember fondly!

It was unexpected that Transformers Car Robot (A.K.A. Robots in Disguise), which was hardly popular in Japan, would be well received in the U.S. However, when Car Robot was introduced to the U.S., the character's personality was not changed and he remained as a funny character. It is rare that they continue to be loved by Americans. After all, American villains are often ruthless, brutal, and psychotic.

Skybyte, the haiku master. Chris mcfreelys haiku disaster . He may have felt contempt. But skybyte appreciates the attempt.

Sky-Byte was one of the first RID 2001 toys I ever bought when they first came out. Too bad I don't have it anymore, I don't remember the details. However, I did get the Generations toy as a gift several years later. May not be as great as the RID 2001 toy, but good nonetheless.
