The one major difference between the G1 trailer and Missing Link trailer is the original had a mechanism in the base of the repair drone that could launch Roller and other cars out of the trailer (Missing Link still has the tab on the outside of the trailer to replicate the launch button and the ML Roller has those two rods on its back that originally slotted into holes in the drone base), whereas the ML trailer lets you detach the repair drone entirely and roll it around as its own separate unit. It also leaves more room in the trailer so you can stuff two cars in there if you want.

I think the Missing Link is pretty cool! I would love to see them do either Sideswipe or Soundwave in Missing Link in the future!

The original optimus only had one gun too. The Walmart reissue came with two because it had both the bloated and the regular gun to make up for the lack of a trailer

The 2002 New Year Special Convoy has both guns and it was printed in animation colors. And it was the first time that they gave him the Autobot Matrix Of Leadership but it was made out of die cast metal.

That comparison with the reissue helps even as someone who owns both seeing as my reissue Prime is never leaving his box after I had a certain someone sign it.

The under sight of the wayst Is also different because It splits on the missing link One.

The one on the left was the Missing Link at the beginning of this video. I still want to get this Optimus Prime for my collection. The first diecast matrix of leadership came out in 2002 and I got that one. That Roller has a new gimmick on the back that the original design didn’t have.

Missing Link Prime has a certain magical aura the Masterpiece line has been missing for a while. There’s something amazing seeing a vintage figure able to pose as good as modern figure or even better in some cases.

I have ZERO experience with the original G1 toyline (born in 1999), but I have always appreciated the blocky aesthetic they had, especially after watching all the old Diaclone commercials. These Missing Link toys look really cool, and while pricier they are definitely cheaper than mint G1 toys. However, I hear the Legacy toyline is making a toy accurate Optimus later down the line that might be more my speed. The Missing Link Bumblebee is tempting me though, I love his visor face!

Easy to tell the two apart. Missing link Optimus Prime as a MUCH smaller red crouch area and it's split. His thighs are also thinner and his Autobot insignias are tampoed. His colors are darker as well. He is SLIGHTLY taller than the original figure🤓

There was a Black repaint of the original mold back in the late 1990s or early 2000s but it still had the Autobot logo on it.

First, Mattel with the Masters of the Universe Origins line, now Transformers with Missing Link, and TMNT are up next. I wonder what other vintage toys are going to be updated with more articulation

There is a black repaint of g1 optimus but it is not a nemesis prime it is a Japanese exclusive of a black version of optimus that can survive black holes

I only was able to tell missing link prime apart from the reissue was his butt and hands lol

It’s left the gun is the correct shape and he’s holding it correctly you can see the paint not stickers and you can see the hand is smaller and doesn’t have a tube through it. Since the legs move there isn’t as much red under the bumper and you can see the panels that flip around to fold in the hands and the windows are darker the shoulders have properly but on Autobot insignias and finally you can see the hand hinges there is a lot of differences but for the better

As soon as I saw the thumbnail I went "Right because of the stickers"

I have the toy version, and I think that the 100-something dollar price makes sense. First, you adjust the original's price for inflation, then you add all the new coolness stuff, and then you remember that its more of a takara thing meaning its going to have a little bit of import fee, and you have basically more than what youre paying for. Of course, wages have not adjusted for inflation like they were supposed to, so 100-something dollars is close to perfect. Additionally, I just really like this toy (Except for those leg panels, which I will never like, Sam-i-am. I do not like them on a chair, I do not like them over there, and I do not like them in any other place that rhymes with air.)
