That "other smoke stack" is a snorkel so the engine doesn't loose air intake when going through a deep body of water that could stall the engine normally

2:29 - EmGo I think that is a snorkel for the engine. Many military vehicles use it so that the vehicle can drive partially submerged underwater without drowning the engine.

Movie Hound: Chunky Toy Hound: Thin and long legs.

That is called a snorkel. It allows the engine to "breathe" and continue running even if the entire engine is submerged underwater. With it installed you will have trouble breathing before your engine does.

Hound is one of the cooler figures from this movie line so far, in my opinion though. Now, about that thing on the opposite side of the smokestacks. Considering that this is a military vehicle, I can only imagine that that thing is a air intake so the vehicle can drive through deep water without choking. But then again, I might be wrong though... Man! LOL! I was waiting for that "horsie Prime" in your gag :D Gets me EVERY time LOL! Thats so freakin' funny :D Thanks for the great laughs, man :D PS! I think they should release another masterpiece soon. In fact, it can't happen soon enough!!! I also hope they release a MP Hound and Cliffjumper to go with what I think looks like a awesome Bumblebee judging by the released promoshots. Here's a question for you, Emgo: When you buy a TF MP figure, do you normally wait for the Hasbro release, or do you buy whatever comes first from Hasbro or Takara? Do you prefer either of them above the other for any other reason than the prices? Im thinking paint-wise and such. Waiting for Wheeljack, Bumblebee and Ultra Magnus. :) Now, if only Takara/Hasbro could get to work on a new MP Megatron, that would be swell :) WE ALL WANT A NEW MEGATRON!!!! That piece you didnt know is like a snorkel for when the truck goes through watter it lets the engime have a certain spot to take in air so it doesnt die...... and no he doesnt have the super cannon but it still was an awsome movie

The smoke stack looking piece on the left side is actually a snorkel based air-intake in case of the need to drive through flooded and/or high water areas.

As a military vehicle, my guess is that the oddly shaped "smokestack" on the driver's side of the vehicle is probably a "snorkel" to allow it to drive into water without taking water into the engine.

Look again. Hound already has standard exhaust pipes coming out of the roof of his vehicle mode. It's more likely that the second exhaust is from another engine that is powering something inside the vehicle so it doesn't take power away from the truck's main engine. I've seen similar engines on garbage trucks to power their hydraulics. If anyone who's military savvy sees this, please do us all a favour and tell us exactly WHAT kind of alternate mode Bulkhe- HOUND is. Thank you in advance.

KnuxMaster It's not a "snorkel". The fording depth of that vehicle is only 4 feet. Its an air filter for the 1083 FMTV truck.The circular piece houses the air filter and the vent is the intake.

Hey emgo,that piece you were asking about on Hound is an aqua lung used as a breather in water since I think the real truck is amphibious and you can drive it thru 5 or 6 feet of water and it won't cut out and die on you.Also I really like your reviews but when do you think you'll get AOE Slash,Slog,and Snarl and review them?.Keep up the good work tho,Awesome as always.

2:20 Actually, Emgo, that's not a smokestack, indeed. Since this is a military vehicle, they need to drive through shallow lakes and whatnot. That "smokestack" is actually an air filter. If the vehicle is driving through deep water, the air filter is always above water, instead of getting soggy and breaking. A military vehicle's air filter has a lifetime guarantee and costs hundreds of dollars to replace.

Hound was originally led foot before the death ops started hunting them down and using their metal the reason why he has so many bullets on him is because he has so many guns and to cover the spots where they stripped the metal from him his top portion of his head is actually a metal hat to cover his head

I know nothing about that truck, but the pipe on the left could be an air intake. I've seen H1 Hummers with a similar device, so the engine could still take in air while the truck was half submerged in water.

At 2:30 Emgo the stack you're wondering about is an air intake for the case the vehicle is submerged so the engine won't flood out. A lot of sport trucks and jeeps use those as well.

Hey emgo. That Thing you want to know is for the engine. It's an air intake for the motor. Assault vehicles have them so that the engine doesn't suck in water. That is why they are so high. So they can go deeper in water areas. ;). Keep up the good work.

I found this figure today at Toys R Us. The last hound they had! I was stoked! I could find the 1 step version alot of places and that quick draw version. But this is the one i was searching for! AWESOME. Love your videos Emgo, Mascqot is my hero!! LOL

I think that's an air-intake port for the engine for when then vehicle is submerged in water.

I can see them repainting this figure as Bulkhead later in assortments to get more use out of this mold. Another character I thought it could be is Kup as well. I think Hound and Evasion Optimus Prime are 2 figures that impressed me more than I expected. I don't really dig the forearms on him but other than that I will pick him up when I see him. The fact that he can store all his weapons in both modes AND they combine means they must really like this character. Hope he is as impressive in the movie as this figure makes him out to be. Nice review! :-D

My guess is that the other 'smoke stack' is actually a snorkel, for use when the vehicle is underwater.

I love how they made it from the old g1 series (Jeep) into one fat ass truck that's still bigger when he's transformed. And I'm not saying that sarcastically. I really do like this figure.

Yo EmGo, I found out you can slide the handplates off and if you want you can plug them in to the gaps on his side so they cover the wheels on his back! That even makes him look more awesome. I just love this figure. They should just have made it larger. This is leader class material.

Design of this movie Hound really seems like he come from 90's G2 comic book. He really has that Rob Liefield style 90's comic book look.

I FRICKIN LOVE HOUND!! Nice review once again dude, when I can im going to get hound. Love it when in the movie he says, "I'm like a fat ballerina who takes scalps and slits throats!!!" XD

The only thing I don't really like is the combined gun. I like it more when guns combine to form a bigger but still somewhat unified looking gun, not a bunch of guns glued together.

I love your reviews, but a couple of points: Ok, number one. It's called a snorkel, and its used for fording water crossings. Number two, Hound was on the Ark in G1 when it originally landed on earth, and his vehicle mode was a military jeep with a big ass cannon. He also specialized in holographic projections and scouting. He eventually became part of Grimlock's unit. Bulkhead didn't even appear in any Transformers continuity until 2004-2005.

I'm giving you a shout out cause the short show is funny never stop making them please don't stop i got hound to thought and i made that same weapon i called it the gun of destruction i love that gun
