Hi there. I will be coming into FRA from the US on Eurowings. I need to then transfer to Thai Airways, to fly to my final destination, Kuala Lumpur. I was told, after landing at FRA, I need to go through immigration and collect my checked in luggage. Next, I need to get my boarding pass at the Thaii Airways counter and recheck in my luggage, and go through security to get to my Thai Airways gate. Is the above true? I was hoping to check my luggage all the way from US to KL but I hear I have to check out and recheck in my luggage because I am going from Eurowings to Thai airways. Can you please advise?

Thanks Kieron! We were supposed to be showing a new airport last June but that trip was cancelled. We have a handful of new airports lined up for December but it looks like those trips will be cancelled too! This coronavirus starts to get more and more annoying!!!

Very interesting. This is definitely one of the most complicated transfer scenarios in Frankfurt, travelling in two different non ralated airlines, operating between 2 different terminals which require you to go outside the secure area, taking the people mover etc. Luckily most transfer experience is more seemless :)

Thanks for watching Silver Fox! We loved our stay at the Regent and that Buffet was incredible :-D It´s always fun spotting out of the windows at Frankfurt Airport so much to see. hi! I have a layover in frankfurt from rome, headed to the United states. will I have to go through security and customs on my frankfurt layover? I have a 1 hour layover in frankfurt and i’m afraid I won’t have enough time to make it to my gate!

You will need to pass through EU Passport Control. If you need to pass trough security again, depends on which Airline you fly, and at which Concourse you arrive and Depart from. 1h is enough if you don‘t need to change Terminals or concourses. If you need to change Concourses or Terminals, depending on wait times at Security and Passport Control 1h may be a little short. Frankfurt Airport consists of two Terminals (1,2) which are devided in diffrent concourses. Terminal 1 is devided in concourses A,B, C and Z and Terminal 2 is devided into Concourses D and E. If you are flying with an Airline that is part of the Star Alliance, you will arrive and depart from Terminal 1. If not it is likely that you will arrive and depart from Terminal 2. I hope I could help.

Did you have to perform any procedure in relation to COVID-19 in Frankfurt? I realized that almost no one wore a mask at the airport. Was this trip recent?

I am afraid of heights and because of that I am not a fan of escalators especially when I have a lot of luggage (I'll be transferring from one Lufthansa flight to another with 2 carryon bags and a personal item) so...where are the elevators??? lol

I believe if you pay for priority boarding you get an additional bigger hand luggage. That’s how it is with the airline I usually fly with.

@@daviddavidoff1711 Hi David, im just having a time trying to find this strange size for personal carry on. Was hoping someone who had flown Lufthansa could advise me. I have txyed and called twice. No help.

We missed our connecting flight at Frankfurt because we arrived during the morning peak hour. The aircraft had to be parked far away and we were transported to the terminal building by coached which took some time to arrive. It took us quite long to clear immigration and security, no thanks to the huge crowds at the terminal building. Unfortunately we only managed to reach the departure gate after the flight had left. Both flights were operated by Lufthansa.

Not if you are travelling between Schengen member countries.

And you also don't need to go through immigration if you are arriving from and departing to a non-Schengen-Country, even when changing Terminals. The SkyLine-Train has two carriages, one for each side of immigration checks. Thats why both carriages open the doors on opposite sides, as seen around 4:17 in the video. There is even one stop where the doors of one carriage stay fully shut.

Sir i m flying from Bangalore to Canada via Frankfurt and my flight ll be from terminal 1, my layover is for 1 hr n 15 mins will that be enough to board the next flight

Hi, I’m just curious if you made your connecting flight. I am going to be doing something similar and I’m very nervous. My connection is an hour and 10 minutes. Did you have extra time or did you miss your plane? I was hoping to at least go to the bathroom and get a drink. Hoping I don’t have to run from gate to gate. Both flights are in the same terminal terminal one.

Hi there Maria! The best thing for you to do would be to contact the relevant authorities in the countries you are passing through or entering (Rules change so quickly nowadays).

Yes! You will be required to show the Test to the German Customs Agents, or at the Check-in Desk from your flight.

It is probably to late for your trip but maybe it might help others: When travelling to a Schengen-Country, immigration is performed in the first country you arrive, so you will go through immigration in Frankfurt airport and then you are in an area where you can leave the airport and come back to your flight to Italy without going through any border checks again.

Terrible airport. Too big. Confusing. Easy to get lost. Few toilets in the older terminal. Not enough security agents; slow. A madhouse. A lady got upset at my sister complaining she was too close to her!! LOL. Where exactly could she go with thousands waiting to get through security.

Confusing? The only thing that is confusing are the people that can‘t read signs and then blame it on the airport. It is well organized and everything is indicated clearly. There are Toilets every 100m or less, and yes, even in the old Terminal.
