Trans-Catalina Trail: 5 Day Hike Highlights

The Trans-Catalina Trail is a 38.5 mile trail that goes across the island of Catalina. We got a chance to hike it over 5 days and this video is just a short highlight / preview for my full one hour video that I am putting up later this week.

I spent many summers growing up at Catalina on a boat. What fun to see the island from this perspective. Thanks.

I LOVE Catalina, and it shows that there is so much to that island than just Avalon.

I've done this trip, however we started at two harbors, backpacked to the end and backtracked and up and over to Avalon camp ground. Amazing hike, slept on the beach, no tents needed.

@@californiathroughmylens For me it's not to bad, I live about 40 minutes west of Kansas City so this portion of the state has small rolling hills, lots of streams & rivers with large amounts of pine trees and Midwest versions of the Aspen tree. There are a lot of Wetland wildlife preserves out here so a it's a good excuse to hike & see some actual wildlife like Canadian geese, river otters, deer, coyotes, rabbits and even Bald Eagles. We get thunder storms out here with lighting like you can't imagine, traffic on the freeways are minimal and surprisingly where I live really good places to eat. Plus side of a college town, lots breweries & foodies! That said if I could have Vasquez Rocks, San Gabriel Mt. range & Ventura county beaches near by I'd be even happier! =o)

A few year ago, I was in Las Vegas for a seminar and went on that 3 day Carnival cruise to Catalina and Ensenada. I took a tour on a lot of those back roads with a modified humvee. The geography is definitely that of Southern California.

I’m looking forward to the full vid soon. The landscapes are unreal. I’m not sure if you have done this already but maybe as a future video you can show us your hiking gear? I’ve only ever done day hikes and I’m intimidated by multi day hikes and making sure I bring all of the necessary supplies.
