Trangia Multi Fuel Stove Review

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Trangia Multi Fuel Stove Review. In this review I test the Trangia against the MSR Whisperlite International stove for comparison. The Trangia is really excellent, built well and can burn a wide range of fuels.

How many of us have an old Trangia or MSR stove in the cupboard, unused for many years, yet still going strong? Trangia has bulk, MSR is more compact. I took my MSR Whisperlite on a bike tour, never a problem. I prefer liquid fuels to non-reusable gas cylinders.

My Trangia stove will out last me and probably my kids. My MSR Whisperlite International is already 26 years old and no sign or serious wear. If you look after these things they will serve you for a lifetime!

Very good review and well done. A bit envious - you having both stoves. Wished I had the Trangia. Thanks for sharing your burn test.

When I prime an MSR Dragonfly, I only need to make a whitegas fireball 2 to 4 inches high. Which only lasts long enough to warm up the burner assembly to operating temperature.

Nice - I have the MSR whisperlite international and if primed carefully that is also the same as you mention.

I have the 27k and have owned it for 25+ years also. I upgraded to the pans to non-stick years ago but the windshield and base are the thick aluminium originals. Awesome gear! We used them in the military also for expeditions and such.

Do you know if MSR / Trangia bottles, pumps and heaters are interchangeable? Thanks for sharing.

Been looking for a good review of the multi fuel burner, thanks, ntw the larger kit is the 25k, the smaller one is the 27k sounds odd I know I wonder why they named them like that? Cheers mate

How do you build this adapter? Is this adapter already available to buy? Where can I get this "metal cup" to be reworked? Sorry for my english.

Hello, Thank you for an interesting film. The big difference between your Trangia Multif (#780001) and the newer version (#750001) is that there is only one valve on the new version. There is no fine tuning valve - simmer. The other difference is that the newer version does not have a snap connection between the bottle and the hose. It is a swivel connection. Hose and bottle are screwed together. If you want a fine tuning valve (two valves) you should look at Primus Omnifuel and convert it to Trangia. Its possible to convert Optimus burner to Trangia as well, but the Primus burner and Trangia burner are largely the same and both are also manufactured by Primus. The advantage of the Optimus burner is that it is easier to clean with the special tool / magnet. It is also possible to convert other burners to Trangia.

Wow Not the right way to prime. Very dangerous. Besides that, good video.

There was nothing dangerous about the way I primed it. Could I have done a better job perhaps but it got there all the same. I'm glad you enjoyed the video despite my dare devil antics ;)

Try a trangia alcohol stove - they are the burner supplied with the pan set - The multi fuel burner is an add-on to this - hope that helps.

Robert Allen a modified Optimus 111t burner in a trangia setup will burn alcohol. I assume you're talking about a pressure stove as opposed to the standard trangia alcohol burner. Alcohol was the reason that I bought my first 111t. The standard stove requires a special jet and an oxygen restriction tube. Frankly I've never been impressed with the Stove's performance in alcohol.
