Filming these systems takes a lot of work: your support helps the channel grow with new videos from across the world and us having an awesome discussion and connecting with other transit enthusiasts across the globe.
Eleven lines are currently operational (counting Lines 3a and 3b as separate lines), with extensions and additional lines in the planning and construction stage. Although the system mainly runs in the suburban regions of Paris, lines T3a and T3b run entirely within Paris city limits, and line T2 also does so for part of its route. While the lines operate independently of each other and are generally unconnected, some connections do exist: between lines T2 and T3a (at the Porte de Versailles station, since 2009), T3a and T3b (at the Porte de Vincennes station, since 2012), T1 and T5 (at the Marché de Saint-Denis station, since 2013), T1 and T8 (at the Saint-Denis train station, since 2014) and T8 and T11 Express (at two stations : Villetaneuse-Université and Épinay-sur-Seine, since 2009). However, the final design of the entire planned tram network is fairly integrated. ~Wikipedia

Lovely tram system in Paris, but in London, so many people cock a snook at the idea of more trams coming back in addition to London's only modern tram system centred around Croydon in the far south of our city. I can't understand people's beef about trams. They are a lovely and clean method of passenger transportation.

Trams are specifically in the croydon/south London area because it was getting redeveloped and needed a cheap rail system and trams in central London would be near impossible because of the congested and narrow streets

Yeah trams in Paris are exclusively outside the core city, or orbitally running on the rim of the core city like T3a & T3b, orbitally running deeper into the suburbs like T1, T2, T11, T12, T13, etc. Or they are kind of an extension to a metro line's end like T6 or T7 which respectively extend M13 and M7 further the South (past Orly Airport for T7). There's no space available in the center to run trams, it's metro and RER exclusive territory : no surface lines, most is underground, a bit is elevated (except for mainline terminal corridors). London having less density than Paris, they should have an easier time building trams outside the center. It's a pretty good solution for short to mid distance suburb to suburb journeys.

@@benedekhalda-kiss9737 It is nothing like trams. Tram can carry triple amount of people with one driver. Rails are even cheaper to build, and last longer. The energy consumed is lower for rail vehicles. If you can´t build rails everywhere, you just need several backbone like tracks through the city, and buses funneling people to them from areas trams can´t go to and suburbs.

I wish these were around when I lived there from 1974-1976. We just had the Metro, and I loved it. We also had lots of other trains, and from what I understand, the trams didn't come to be until around 1978 or 79. I also am totally blind, and it would be so nice if you could put English subtitles with the name or number of each tram and the intersection or landmark where you took each clip. Otherwise, you got a big "like" out of me. Heather

Why do the French have to be different, - they run their underground trains on rubber tyres, and now they run their trams (some) on rubber tyres as well. - Is it the wine, their cheese, or just the 'je ne sais quoi'. Damn good video nevertheless.

Well rubber tyred metros was a technology developed in France during the sixties if I remember well. It had certain advantages at the time like limited maintenance costs, less noise and faster trains. It was also adopted massively in Japan somehow.

@@thibistharkuk2929 I wonder why the Japanese adopted it. - Not like them, they usually 'invent' the idea, and it is then offered/copied worldwide. I'm a bit ignorant about these 'tyres', are they a specially made type, just standard pneumatic or the semi 'run-flat' type, as punctures I would have thought could be a problem.
