thanks davin! this is exactly how I wanted to organize my music.. fuck i tunes, I've always been a folders kind of guy, and I've always ran serato but I just got traktor and even if I dont switch I still need to organize my music.. I've been playing for like.. 6 years and all I have is folders that say NEW (date) and then I have a couple of "all hip hop" "all reggae" folders haha! so I'm on a mission to re-organize my 80 gig library and then import it to traktor and analyze haha! I'll watch your other videos thanks for explaining so well

Thanks! personally i have been using Mixed in Key since it was in version 1 and i have just got use to how those keys work, as far as traktors key engine it works in comparison to mixed in key about 85% i have found some keys that traktor comes up with to be completely different then mixed in key so i just trust mixed in key in the end .... and i use a S4 an F1 and MIDI Fighter

Great video, learnt a lot from this, however I noticed you (among others) opt out of using iTunes. How do you stop Traktor from automatically importing all your itunes media? I have a LOT of bands I'm happy to keep running in iTunes as I'll never mix them, but I don't want them showing up in Traktor alongside all of my 'dance' music from a different folder which I've added under the file management settings.

From whatever location doesn't matter you can just drag the track from your browser in Traktor and drop it in your playlist of choice. Then it is in there. As far as the program is concerned it is a very very advanced software that took me 6 months to figure out but it was when i figured it out that made my performances 100 times better so the ? is is the time worth it? hell yes it was

How do u stop traktor resetting automatically

two things 1. make sure your tracks are located in the directories you have set up as your music folders, also have the check box in your browser settings checked next to import music folders at start up. 2. after your tracks are analyzed "LOCK THEM" but only if your done truly gridding them out and making sure traktors analyzation was correct cause even though they continually update their gridding engine its still not 100% correct

i've got a problem with my iTunes icon. When i press it it say that iTunes are empty. I have tried to look through my file management, but I can't find any help there. Hopefully you have an idea of that the problem could be?

Hey, good info. but have a question. How do you get your explorer to playlist folder in Traktor? Do you manually create the folder and then and update the Playlist songs from time to time? Example Party House in explorer, do you create a duplicate playlist in traktor?

I get stutters in my tracks when playing, messing up my beat matching.. I think it has to do with importing or something any ideas?? Any help is appriciated!!! its really annoying:(

hold command and click and drag the file(that you want shortcut) to the top of finder window... walla!!!

can anyone help me, i have a few playlists which i use to house all my tracks in traktor, but whenever i add a new track to the library i have to reimport the playlists and then check consistency on all the tracks (currently at 60k tracks) is there an easier way to add tracks to my analysed library than the way that i am currently doing it? thanks!

are you talking about inside the library in traktor? if you are then you just right click the column that has the categories and then be sure you have "import date" checked if that isnt what your talking about could you elaborate a little so i can help?

ok soooo you organize your music into folders on you mac first? then it pops up already in the same folder when you look it up in traktor but where do you go exactly in traktor? explorer... then what? and after you find it by import date you have to manually drag it into the playlist that you want in traktor for it to be ready?

yes i organize then in my mac first , kinda by genre but more like a crate of music in my mind. when you open traktor on the left there is a playlist browser and then there the explorer which browses actual file locations on your hard drive under explorer you will have a folder called music folders ( which will show the folder you have added in settings as music folder locations) and then you can also browse your whole system as well... once i locate the new tracks i have organized by folder i then drag them in to their corrisponding playlist in which then i analyze them and go from there.... technically you don't have to do the playlist part i do however cause playlists create an xml file or in traitors case an NML file that has the track data location play count key etc etc all stored in a single file making the load time and location time instant where as if you click on a single "folder" traktor has to scan the folder and then show you the available tracks which takes time...

When Analyzing tracks, selecting "special", does that automatically analyze tracks with Mixed In Key collection by default if files are the same & Pre analyzed by MIK, or does that have to be set up? How does that step work in detail?

i don't know why i am just now seeing this question but i will answer it anyway ... when i analyze my tracks into Traktor i select "special" and then choose BPM and Gain and then leave key unchecked, if you have MIK set up right the key will be written in the tag of the song, if you have all selected when importing in traktor , traktor will overwrite that key to the Traktor key.... I have however lately been changing the file names in MIK cause for some unknown reason Traktor will suddenly show the Traktor key in place of the MIK key... hopefully that answered something for you :) let me know if i can clarify anything further

Thanks Daven. I'm new to MIK, i Have to look to see if MIK is set up correctly for traktor, I don't see keys showing in tracks. Kinda thinking tho, if traktor now has keys, might just be easier to use traktors key analyzing, i guess the question on that would be, what's the different in Key accuracy MIK vs Traktor?

well like i say in the video this is just how i do it there are many other ways of organizing and maintaining your library, as far as your preparation folder is concerned if you didn't notice my playlists don't even have a preparation folder listed they are all just playlists, The reasoning for that is when i find a new track that i just added i drag it to the playlist i want and then its there.

quick question I'm having a ton of problems with tk2 collection giving me errors on every song I want to play saying is corrupted or missing or can't be played, I know my music is all good cause I buy it from promo only so corrupted? don't think so... I'm using tk 2.6.8 and didn't have this problem before with other versions so i'm thinking in going back to maybe 2.6 or something... any tips on this one? got 2 parties this week and can'tdj like this... contacting NI is impossible takes for ever any help would appreciate thanks!

sounds like you may have tracks that have been moved after being analyzed which will cause traktor to do that to you when you try and load a track from a playlist that isn't in the original location it was when it was originally analyzed.... to fix this you can use Traktors "Check Consistency" feature on your playlists. you highlight all the tracks in your playlist do a right click or control click on the playlist then select "Check Consistency" Traktor will then scan the playlist and look for those tracks in the playlist in the place they were originally located then it will come back with a result window giving you three columns " Show Overview, Missing Tracks and Tracks to Analyze " in your case you would want to highlight the tab that says missing tracks, highlight the tracks that show in that list and then click "relocate" at the bottom this will give you options on how to scan and locate the missing tracks from that playlist ( they are not really missing , they just have been moved or deleted from their original location after you added them to the playlist) when it locates those files it will then update the playlist with the new file location making the tracks load correctly with no issue.... you can also have your system check consistency of your whole library upon startup by going to settings then library and then select "check consistency on startup" ---- Hope this helps

hi ,thanks for the great video!I want to ask you something.I had my music on traktor about 16000 songs with playlists cue and loops which I didn't update for long time cause I m using another dj software on other computer. after 6 months I decide to copy my music from my other dj software (other computer ) and put it on Traktor . That Music was about 19000 songs .And when I did this I have lost a lot of cue point I had before but not all.Any idea why this happen?old categories and playlist are the same ,thanks

is it possible when you added the new files you chose to copy over existing files? say you where importing another copy of song X you may have reset song X

Do the tracks have to be in the track collection or can you just drag a track into your playlist or folder? I always seem to wind up with more than one copy of the song.

The way i do it is my track collection is set to be the primary directory of all my "new music imports" for example Daven Treague Music is the primary folder name then inside that folder is the genres that i drag the new music into. This allows Traktor to scan your primary music library when you do a consistency check. As far as duplicated files in a playlist you can do a secondary or right click on the playlist name and choose "Remove Duplicates" and it will remove any track that has the same file location and name. Sometimes however i will accidentally import the same track to two different genre folders ( which is a pain ) if you ever notice any of those duplicated tracks in a playlist after you have removed the duplicates then you just choose the one you either haven't played or have played the least amount of times and right click that file in the playlist and choose delete ( then select "additionally delete from my hard drive ) this way the duplicated file will also be deleted from your system leaving you with just one file.

David, I am literally just getting started with this software. Traktor pro2. I want to start a clean library of playlist. Simply stated. I can't figure out how to get songs into the playlist outside of tractor. I want to do what you did by having the folders set up in the Apple explorer and then link the folders to Traktor Explorer. Sheez, it shouldn't be that hard. Help me not screw this up from the beginning please sir. Thanks

do you already have the songs in a playlist in traktor and you are wanting to export them into their own folder then rebuild your library inside traktor after they have new locations ?

Why doesn't the track show bpm? Why does it say cannot play file corrupted 0.00 bpm anybody?

As long as you import and analyze all the tracks from the external HD, Traktor will load it just fine. I didn't use it because I have over 1.8tb of music and analyzing all of that would take weeks L☢L.... When you import and analyze the music Traktor will create an XML file on the internal HD in the documents folder containing the track names and file location, kinda like a playlist, which makes finding and loading your music from your hard drive or external just as fast..... It's all preference and how much space you have in your system... Hope this helps
