Of course, it's highly comparable to Nazi crimes, but all this "rewiring" in "re-education" prison camps is in fact genuine communist politics, right from the beginning after Lenin's Red October "revolution" (actually just a putsch). Please notice, these communist crimes started at a time when the Nazis didn't even exist and Hitler was still an unknown low-ranking soldier in the war with France. It shows that fascism was a derivative of communist ideology and methods. Mussolini started his political career in the Socialist Party of Italy, until he "improved" their politics in order to raise their effiency.

@@liebuster9308 Are you serious because I would much more easily believe that the CIA is actually hiding more damaging evidence towards China then the CIA is letting get out. I'm actually surprised that I was able to find his other show that led me to this one here on YT on my own because it wasn't more buried by the algorithm and I wasn't actively looking for this. They're certainly not paying him to expose the sad side of China's policies on the average every day people. I am grateful I found it though because it's actually in many ways made me much more understanding/empathetic towards at least the average Chinese people and even give me a much more well rounded view of the Government of the 'People's Republic of China' aka CCP. I went from just feeling like China as a whole was a threat to other Countries, to a much more nuanced view of the possible dangers posed by China's leadership, Chinese produced products, their effects on the environment through their practices, and so much more. I love learning about ancient world history but I also respect and want to learn about current history in every Country. I was absolutely not ignorant though to the fact that there was so much going on behind the scenes in China that I have no access to from America and this helps fill in some gaps that I was not ignorant too but did not have such a nuanced view about.

One for the ancient history that comes to mind on here is an independent producer on a channel called 'Fall Of Civilizations'. The other that covers Mao's revolution, I do believe it is an old CBS production, that's split into multiple parts on here and is in depth with plenty of original footage from that time and if I remember correctly includes first hand testimony from the survivors of it. There are others about the same thing by more independent sources though.

I have lived in 4 east Asian nations for 36 years and speak 3 languages. I constantly see newly arrived foreigners who know nothing of the local languages, culture and systems think they have found utopia - a faultless nation and people. They will compare their home countries with exaggerated negativity to the heaven they perceive in the Asian nation. I even know of one Canadian who would get on his knees and bow before random locals thanking them for allowing him to live in heaven and saving him from the "hell" of Canada. At times I have told them that everything is quite the opposite of what they think. Often they will attack me saying I'm just a bitter and negative person critical of everything. One thing I have noticed is that many of these foreigners are fleeing personal problems in their home countries. But in time reality inevitably comes down crashing on them. They return to their home countries disappointed, broken and bitter people. That is what happened to the Canadian. I also knew a Dutchman, age 50+, who came with his life's savings including a large inheritance from parents lose it all within 3 years, his Embassy had to repatriate him and he now lives in some kind of welfare bunk house back in the Neatherlands. I've seen it too many times.

I had a phase where I followed a lot of Japan vloggers on youtube and I noticed something you described. Many people move to Japan in the hopes of starting a new life, but 2 things happen: their personal problems like depression dont magically go away and once the novelty wears off, they will become irritated with the problems they encounter while living in Japan. Like lazy bureaucracy and finding out that many Japanese people are insincere in public. (Honne/Tatemae) So they eventually become bitter and even more miserable like you said.

In europe state compliance is much more popular as an ideology than in america, so im not sure its necessarily hardwired. Community compliance can make groups stronger when things are going good, but can make things even worse when things are going bad. I have older friends in Germany who talk about times when questioning authority wasn't even something that people thought about. Coming from the US where extreme skepticism is the norm, this was such an interesting cultural difference to me. Of course propaganda works everywhere, but the US's general tendency to refuse to stand as one does come in handy somtimes

Many people are either ignorant or stupid and very uneducated, especially those that believe they are educated because they went to some "prestigious" university. Parents try to raise their kids right and then pay thousands of dollars to send them to a university because they've been told that is what is best for them where they are indoctrinated and brainwashed. These kids then turn into adults that believe you should think only how your government wants you to think. There is little hope for them from that point on. Communism wasn't defeated, it just realized a better way to take over the world. That way was to take over education and entertainment. From there they took over government. We are witnessing the rise of a new breed of communism now that they've effectively taken over every area of life, and it will be unlike anything we have ever seen before. This new breed is more nefarious and insidious than what we saw in the past and it is coming at us quickly.

A month or 2 ago I happened upon your other channel 'The China Show' first and today I've been going through some of your videos on this channel. I have to admit that I'm very impressed by the way you seem to handle some of these stitutions with people from your past and trying to say something to them about optics and so on while trying not to disparage them or immediately assume their complicit. You explaining the difference when it comes to people who don't speak or read the Chinese language and how they can get caught up in fluff peices or propaganda unintentionally is informative and respectful. The way you handled this entire topic gave me a new view of you and honestly a new respect for you. Partially because on the other show sometimes you are both laughing at things that I couldn't understand the humor in but wasn't sure how to feel about it while at the same time giving you the benefit of the doubt that it was possibly due to cultural experiences and context that my life experience lacks. I am very glad now that I gave you the benefit of the doubt and didn't judge because this episode more than any other of the few I watched today of this channel has shown me that you really are a good person in my opinion and you really do your best to be conscientious of what you put out and are very caring from what I can tell. I never doubted that you had critics or people who would attack you from the other side but this was my first exposure to what you must deal with a lot and you seem to do so with a humble heart, dignity, and grace on a level I don't think I've seen before on social media but is valued by and is encouraged generation to generation in my family.

Hey Winston, just wanted to point out something very interesting that you touched on for just a brief second in this video. You mentioned the local video sharing platforms in China and how it is difficult as a foreigner to create profiles on them due to their being certain requirements such as an ID card etc. I don’t think I’ve ever heard this before and would be extremely interested in a video discussing the way social media works in China, it seems very foreign to me as a westerner that an ID card would be used online considering in the West the majority of people are trying to be anonymous when posting online. The implications are obvious since the CCP tracks everything, but I’d be interested in what other things they use to limit and track individuals through their social media accounts. Love the longer videos btw, thank you!

In China, a lot of their social media require users to use their real names and phone numbers and ID# to sign on. My friend wants to use douyin (China tiktok) but she can't because she doesn't have a Chinese number to get authenticated. I think it's relatively new practice since Xi came into power. I was able to get Weibo and WeChat with just an email address years ago. But yeah, because of the practice, people can fairly easily report others to the authorities for posting stuff and it definitely promotes self-censorship.

As a Chinese, I enjoy this video greatly because it’s such a comfort to see that foreigners like you and Laolei, who understand China well und truly hope her and her People well, are still keeping hard to say the ugly truth out instead of hiding behind the so-called “language barrier" and pretending ignorant even after spending so many years in China. As to the propaganda, what’s the deepestly concerning thing is, in my view, that many Chinese people DON’T value the independence and objectivity of the media. They believe that showing off the bright side, even by lying, can really bring in economic benefits, even only in a short run, which an objective discovery of the dark side can’t. To some degree, the people are not deceived, but also play a roll in the government’s propaganda. Although in the long run they are always the biggest victim of not being able to tell the truth any more.

I so much admire your candidness, when speaking on the truth of what is really going on, in China. I have been watching since the tandem motorbiking days, showing off the beauty of China, as a land-mass, but also pointing out all the discrepancies, of what it is actually like there vs. what the Chinese government, so painstakingly, wants the rest of the world to believe. I love your no-nonsense, but kind and compassionate way, you deliver the absolute truth to your viewers. "Take it, or leave it... But, it IS the truth.", should be your new merch slogan. I would buy it! 😄❤ I'm sorry you have to put up with these people trying to say bad things about you, when you are literally doing nothing, but trying to warn them about how dangerous it actually is, doing what they are doing. They are just too thick-headed to realize it. They are too trusting of Chinese translators to tell them the truth of what is going on, and then claiming what they say, as fact. When in reality, they really have no idea, and can't, "read the room", either. It's really dumb....and dangerous. Keep up the great work, man! I love your energy, sense of humor, and your love of people, period. But, you have that special place in your heart for the Chinese, since you lived there, and your wife and children are Chinese, and you have many great friends from there, as well!! @@jonathanlee5520 Well, Trump gives the benefit of the doubt to Russia because he admires strongman leaders like Putin, but there are opposition politicians who understand that global corporations want access to markets in China to sell their products. China is a much, much; much, much MUCH more threatening adversary of the West than the USSR (edit: and Russian Federation) ever was for this simple reason: the Chinese economy is large enough to necessitate that foreign companies seek growth through operating in China's rapidly developing markets. That's why it's a really big f*cking deal when politicians in the West act like China is more or less a country run by a respectable, legitimate government who isn't constantly behaving in parasitic ways. Russia/USSR neither achieved this level of wealth that we see in China, nor did they have over a billion people striving to engage in the largest consumer markets in the world. At first it was the West using Chinese labor and industry, and now there's enough wealth that demand for BMWs and iPhones has created this entanglement. Pretty bad when you consider these corporations have a much bigger megaphone than the people. People have to organize in large numbers in order to ever affect policy.. so yeah. It's not great Edit2: the implication of this is that BMW will do whatever it must to protect its access to Chinese markets. China is their ticket to growth, just as it is for many Western companies. It's a conflict of interest. Theyre leveraged by this relationship, and the CCP uses this. Blizzard silencing the Hong Kong protest supporter who won a tournament. The NBA's players spoke out in support of Hong Kong's sovereignty, but the CCP started pulling NBA games from TV and merchandise off shelves. Now they're silent. You get the picture by now..

Most people are illiterate in politics and human psychology. This was proven back in 1917, when the people supported their tyrants and murderers, the gang of Lenin and Trotsky! Democracy (the right of the people to decide their fate in a referendum) is good only for a politically literate people. People react to rhetoric and do not see deceivers in talkers! The trouble is with the people.

Thank you, SerpentZA! Without the audience going to college for this topic, we have a hard time learning new things. Especially the older we get. I've been watching you off and on for 3 years and thanked you the other day for your commitment. I wanted to take the time to post to hopefully add some legitimacy to this channel. Which can already stand on its own legs. Soldier on. We appreciate you beyond words. Get to know China and you get to know the government is as dangerous as their people are beautiful and talented. No one is perfect, but the Communist, atheist, greedy government lives in an alternate reality of puppets and pleasers. The people will one day change it. They simply must all come together as one, all at once. I hope for that. I hope for them to have a life with complete freedoms.

I don't agree with Winston all the time but at least I can watch a video without the urge to change the channel. I've said elsewhere that no matter what format there's " influence pedalling " now. Car and motorcycle magazines and video logs pander to their audience. It comes down to listening to various people then sifting through it. I prefer Winston's earlier vids where politics wasn't as prevalent. It seems that Barrett and son are just trying too hard. I btw don't like the Chinese governments excesses and in the same vein dislike the US government interference in other countries affairs.
