Trains Passing Rugeley Power Station Before & After It went.

This power station was a hive of activity with MGR trains coming and going 24 hrs a day when it was operating.
The power station stopped operating on the 8th June 2016, and the cooling towers were blown up/demolished on the 6th June 2021 at 11.00 hrs.

They certainly gave a sense of scale to the railway and an interesting background.

I have to say Bryan It was bloody had work walking through the long grass to get the first shots, but I was well impress with the sight I saw. But when I went on Monday It was so much easier to walk as the farmer had cut the grass. Mike.

Fascinating to watch and note the impact on the view of the cooling towers going. Before I watched the video all the way through and gave it some thought I would have said point blank it's obviously a nicer view without them. But there is a certain austere character and they have a place in history, particularly in the local area. Although overall I'd still have to say to me it looks nicer without. Great video!!!

Thank you Mr Hurt for your comment, I sort of agree with you, but I wonder if they were not going to build houses there would they have bothered taking them down.

I know these cooling towers represented the bad old days of coal fired power stations pumping CO2 into the atmosphere but they were such a feature of the landscape for so long it's sad to see them go. Great video of today's railway traffic though. Thanks.

Landscape not the same in my opinion. For me its a shame although some will disagree. It just reminds me of the constant MGRs that went in to these power stations so I suppose its sentimental haha
