Thanks, I was out there for a railroad training course, of which I dropped out of due to family issues and had to come back home. I didn't have much time to railfan all of what I got is what you see. I'm sure one of these days I'll make it back out there.

In Olathe, Kansas it is a quiet zone, train engineers unless in emergency do not sound the horn, FRA Under Rule (49 CFR Part 222), locomotive engineers must begin to sound train horns at least 15 seconds, and no more than 20 seconds, in advance of all public grade crossings. If cities want a quiet zone then crossing signal equipment must be upgraded, with more advance safety equipment.

Thanks, most people like the trains, but I worked on railroad crossings for a shortline for some time, always been a electronics guy.

Like the electric crossing bells, & the Whelen Tornado Siren is a nice touchable addition. Just 1 Person's personal opinion I guess.

Sometimes they do, I guess it's just how they put them together at the Intermodal center, couldn't tell you why.

At 9:30, ( Hence the whelen siren, which is what I'm talking about) you would have got DEAFENED by that siren if you were close enough to that thing. By which I mean, RIGHT NEXT TO IT to about 1/4 of a mile. Be glad they didn't test it. :D
