Re: multiple disconnected tiles -- I used to play SimCity 4 regions like that. I'd get a cluster of city tiles built out, and then I'd find a blank tile further away and start building an exurb or small town, and gradually build them together. I'm looking REAL forward to being able to do that kind of thing again!

How many hours spent in Cities 1 & 2 will make me this good at the game? Your attention to these questions is greatly appreciated. Thanks for being awesome! ;)

22:45 I would suggest turning around the rail yard so the building is somewhat close to the rail tracks, leaving enough room for a road. The biggest thing I think people need to remember with CS2 is the building expansion. With the rail yard (from what I've seen with other pre-release players) is the railyard expands away from the main building, which you cannot do having that side close to the existing rail and main highway. This way also allows for the road to hit the building but all the extra rails able to go out without having them all cross the road. Also, there is no road/highway from rail town to downtown, that road dead ends outside of downtown.

Lastly, if I didn't know you were Canadian from the name, I'd have guessed from how you were willing to draw an at-grade intersection across a freeway-class highway :-D Traveling up to Winnipeg from North Dakota, where I-29/US75 becomes MB75, and at-grade intersections are all over the place despite the 100k/h speed limits...first time I made that trip I was simply boggled. Then I realized that southern Manitoba is even wider, flatter, and emptier than eastern North Dakota :-D

With placing the train station. Couldnt you turn the "snap to" off? I have seen other creators do that when having a problem lining things up. Not sure I like having to build a train depot along with train stations. Mostly because of its size. And to be honest, not sure I like how big any of the utility type buildings are. I love they are modular, dont love the space they use. It has the affect of making the utility building a central focus on the map. In the case of the depot and a few other utility buildings, I dont like it at all. In the case of the depot, you have this huge asset, you really dont need, or in my case want, taking up valuable space in the middle of your city. R8ght after i wrote this, i see how the large depot problem was solved. Lol. Or, "how"deep" the residential buildings are with their backyards. All this sort of seems to force you into making a large sprawling city with a lot of area taken up by low-rise buildings that dominate the landscape. Or backyards that take the place of more buildings. Can you affect how deep the backyard is with zoning? This has the affect of making the maps "seem" smaller. Zoning. So when you creat a zone, you can set the utility buildings to just affect that zone. I love that idea. What I don't love is because of the utility buildings sizes, I done see you doing that for every zone. Especially the smaller zones. But now, let's say you build a H.S. in a big zone. You sort of can't choose to have the H.S. just for that big zone because if you do, now the small zone won't have a H.S. to use. Maybe once I play I will like this scaling issue and I just need to get used to it.. But I keep watching the creators make cities and though they are beautiful, they also seem.........too sprawling and too focused on the size of the utility type buildings. Like the cemetary. It's an early utility building you get that pretty much dominates the early city. Now creators did a great job of turning it into a park-like area but it's still a cemetary dominating the middle of your early city. I would much rather have an actual park than a cemetary there. And by the time you can get an actual large park, you have already built around the cemetary as a focal point. Seems H.S. grade schools, hospitols, police station FD and more are all similar. Just saying, once I play I may love this approach. But for me, just watching videos by creators, it's sort of jarring to see. Not saying it's bad for sure. Just jarring. If the maps were much bigger, this is less of an issue. And this I think is why peeps complain the maps look smaller. The maps aren't smaller. The scaling makes them play smaller. Is this a good thing? Got me. Lol.

@@canadianmooseplays Haha, I can certainly understand temporarily forgetting a function for a game. I have been racking my brain around why the cities seem smaller (the scale feeling odd) from the beginning and just sort of put it altogether and figured it out this morning watching your video. Thanks for confirming I am not the only one seeing this. It might just be I need to get used to it. Yeah, with the cemetery. Let it start off much smaller and grow into something like that. or more. And don't get me wrong. I love the way it looks. just, unless your building a necropolis, why would you want your cemetery to be a focal point? One question. With the low residential houses with the HUGE really deep back yards. If you didn't make the zone 6 deep, would that maybe make the backyard alone smaller?😀 Or affect the size of the entire building?😥

I know it's BETA, but I feel like the game is following the same script from CS1, but I know, it's way better, the graphics are superior to the old version with the vanilla, but if you look it from far away, when you get closer, you see parks with terrain texture looking bad, there's the problem with the trees, you can't plant it fully grown, I understand the new mechanic to see trees growing because of the forest industry, but I don't really like it, there should be a way to place grown trees, also again another city builder is repeating this same thing, parks are just assets you place and you has no options to make it the way you want, it's 2023, there are games that let you customize things, like Roller Coaster, and the new game Planet Zoo, which could be a amazing feature, like in Cites XXL, you zone a park instead of placing a existing one, but for advanced methods, in CS2 it could let you customize it accordingly with your desire, like the paths, and other stuff to please the citizens, way more modular applications, also I'm kinda upset with the terraforming tools, it's again the same, basic, generic tool from CS1, there could be way more interesting ways to make it better, like a land painel for different terrains, why we still have to rise only the ground? why we can't have a option to rise rocks, and then we can do more realistic mountains, cliffs and even caves formations, 🚫 no more individually placing rocks 🚫, that doesn't feel real on the ground, you could have different sizes of rocks, and how it will appear, different rock formations, also leaving the terrain side, going to water, there should be a tab especially for rivers, sea, and artificial water stuff, a tool to make rivers, so underwater it will never show grass, it will create erosion in a reasonable way, and by rain transformation or naturally the water will come in and become a natural resource of water, bringing life to fish and other animals, so things will look more alive, going to tree side, I think there should be a way to have primate trees around the map, though the seasons it will drop seeds and new trees will grow through time in a realistic way, all species have a age time, on the tab you can access the seeds saplings, or full grown trees, also I wished the trees could look more realistic or beautiful, from close-up it looks bad, thry promised a more realistic approach, but still want to repeat mistakes from CS1, also right now, with all the things shown on trailer, dev diary, beta gameplays, I feel like they didn't show the actual game, on their video you can see the same bugs from beta, we didn't see how the game will look like, all with the complaints we can't talk about anything because it's beta blah blah blah, but it's strange people are accepting lots of negative things expecting it to be fixed or better on the launch, but this is how things can go to the wrong direction, I remember what EA has done to Sim City, I'm observing the thongs from CS2 and I know things won't be like we wanted, the fact there's already 8 years of experience for them to make the best city builder ever and start it with lacking of stuff, and trying to buy us with "few" stuff from CS1 and some people are ok with that, I will wait for the release, I want to confirm how much they had done, this can't be like Cyberpunk 2077, releasing a unfinished game, with small amount of content, and milk it later with DLCs, or wait for a miracle so modders will fix the game that developers made, let's be real, CS1 Vanilla with zero mods is bad, modders saves it, they do a better job, while devs will not really listen, and when they do listen idk, can't deliver the same as modders in 8 years.... I feel like CS2 should delay it for 1 year more, I can see there's not enough buildings for a promised bigger map, I can see there's not much stuff, limited, you can't really have fun with the modular aspect, props problems.... there's not many maps on beta version, will be a shock if the release version has the same amount of maps, after 8 years, we had to wait few months to see CS2 but in reality we will be waiting forever to see the full potential, we still didn't see enough on Cities Skylines 1, I still don't think the last DLC was enough, they completly gave up, CS1 will never get a final touch it should have, modders will need more patience, pray for them. With Cites Skylines 2 I'm 3.9/5 hyped, I still didn't see the game version they want to release, the beta is bugged, and I don't know if it's a smart move to do that marketing showing a version that is broken, bugs, and bad textures, the lack of content on beta is visible. Otherwise if there's already a level of content to come over this year I will be less skeptical, 8 years waiting for the city builder of my dreams, in a modern era where games can be a lot better, still getting me worried, I don't like the idea of waiting even more to see the next generation, but I feel like the innovation that happened on Sim City era to Cites Skylines might be important for next years, so we can see something different never done...

Being a heavy detailer and modded player currently on CS 1 I want the full ability to customize a lot of things and the trees are driving me crazy haha It is a cool concept for showcasing things like tree planting and new construction that may plant new trees but heck even some new construction just transplants fully grown trees so I would love to see the option for both.
