#trenes #renfe #trainspotting
In this video you are able to see many varied trains passing by the major station of Alcázar de San Juan, which connects southern territories such as Andalucia, Extremadura, Murcia, Comunidad Valenciana and La mancha to Madrid and northern Spanish territories. Regional / Commuter trains are frequent so as to give great connections to these territories, which is not so common in Spain. Due to the great High Speed Rail investments, as well as road traffic strengthening, other passengers and freight trains have been suffering deterioration in the last 30 / 40 years. Politicians are trying to bring about a solution for this by increasing the railway budget, encouraged by the European Union.

A un me acuerdo de cuando me despertaba en alcázar de San Juan y vendían los bollitos de leche, mientras hacían el cambio de máquina en el catalán

Very nice! It’s a shame Spain has so much graffiti on its freight locos.

Graffiti on trains is locally interpreted as properties of culturally advanced societies, tolerant of many urban cultures; while well-painted and clean trains are interpreted as typical of oppressed societies where any freedom of expression is repressed by police brutality.

Graffitis are not only a problem due to the ugly appearance. As Renfe is a National Railway Company, cleaning these "draws" implies spend a lot of money coming from state taxes for this. Besides, they sometimes cover security parts on the train so that they can't provide services until they're cleaned.

And what's more, these "gangs" are violent and sometimes attacks railway workers or block the rail service in order to draw graffitis.

@@challenger179 Of course. But it seems to be mostly a problem on freight locos rather than passenger ones which is odd!

@@HSTHoward Well, passenger trains are expected to be clean and attractive for people, that's why there's more security controls in passenger trains areas. Even cleaning works are mostly focused on these kind of trains, for the same reason. The "philosophy" is that "goods" don't feel bad if they are carried by an ugly of dirty train. Anyway, in some areas as Catalonia, where vandalism is bigger, passenger's are usually dirty too.
