🚄 INFORMATION KEY
Train Numbers - e.g. 43032 or 800110 - These are train numbers which are specific to that train. No trains can be numbered the same. Locos are 5 digit numbers where the first two numbers are the class of train e.g. 67010 would be a class 67. Multiple Units are 6 digit numbers where the first three numbers are the class of train e.g. 390154 would be a class 390. Click Here to learn more
➤ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TOPS#TO...
Headcodes - e.g. 1F32 or 5M00 - These are used by the railway signallers to determine where trains are on the network. Every train within a region has a specific four code ID. Click Here to learn more
➤ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Train_r...
Set Number - e.g. WB64 or NL04 - These are semi-permanent loco hauled coach formations which are kept together for formalities. The first two letters usually indicate the maintenance depot responsible e.g. OC is Old Oak Common, LA is Laira. The number indicates the rake number.

Hello everyone, I’m StarlifeStudios and my passion is to experience and video railway stations across the United Kingdom at both small and large locations, but, with an informative twist! Trains will be doing about 85 through the platforms if they are running on greens. London bound they will be slowing down for the 70mph restriction at Neasden junction, country bound they will be accelerating up towards 100 which they tend to reach somewhere by Northolt Park.

    Quickest 19 minutes I've spent on KZread for some time - watching with total fascination what is basically a commuter passenger-only line. Chiltern travellers must love their super-clean, apparently super-punctual railway. The success the franchise has achieved is totally deserved. I compare these sights and other uploads of the line with the old Video 125 "Chiltern Take 2" dvd and just marvel at the improvements and developments that have taken place.

    Wow! Thanks Geoff, I'm not sure that my video deserves the generous credibility that you have given it but I always work my hardest to make sure that the video demonstrates the environment and the trains at the station I visit. I also like to think of my videos as mileposts in time that one day you can look back on and think of how things have changed both for technology and the trains/stations. I absolutely agree that Chiltern Railways is one of the best examples of development and punctuality.

    Great video 😎👍🏽 Hell of a dip in that station at both ends? 🤔 Nice to see the class 68. I’ve been meaning to take a ride behind the 68 between Marylebone and Birmingham, but with this CV19 and other things, I haven’t had a chance yet.

    It is a dip isnt it! I was going to say that maybe the station was lowered to allow the new bridge to pass but the station pre-dates the bridge. Ill try and find out what the inclines are on both sides and let you know. I was hoping for more Class 68s but it didnt seem like luck was on my side, this was Chiltern's COVID timetable which is still busy!

    @@StarlifeStudios OK I have referenced my UK Railway gradient book and this was originally called “Wembley Hill” 🤔 Coming from the Marylebone direction its a 1/260 drop into the station followed by a sharp 1/100 climb out of the dip northbound. 1/100 = for every 100 foot in length the track rises by 1 foot. 1/100 is quite steep. The climb between Bristol TM and Bristol Parkway is 1/75 from Narroways Junction to Filton Abbey Wood. The Severn tunnel is 1/90 on the Welsh side and 1/100 on the English side, the steeper 1/90 decent from Wales was designed that way to favour heavy coal trains of yesteryear coming out of South Wales 😊👍🏽

    Those 165s and 168 could do with a replacement plan. The 168s are "okay" on Long distance working, but the occasional use of the 165s shows they're really getting on.

  • @StarlifeStudios

    @StarlifeStudios

    4 ай бұрын

    I think the chances of the 165s reaching 2030 are slim at most. As the 168s get older, there is a good opportunity to replace the fairly mixed fleet with newly built DMUs or even Intercity spec Stadler units. I agree though - It's incredible that the 165s and 168s are used interchangeably with each other!
