Trains at Northallerton, ECML | 05/01/2017

Hello everyone, MT here and beginning the new year of MTSSV8 Films with usual trainspotting filming at Northallerton railway station on the east coast mainline.
On this cold winter's day with some bright sunny spells, there was the everyday commuters, fast express high speed trains and long heavy freight trains.
Also for a first, Transpennine Express trains passing through without as they normally would do, must be something to do with the December timetable change like the extensive of the York to Manchester Airport service being extended to Newcastle but not stopping at Northallerton.
Trains include: Virgin Trains East Coast Intercity 125's & 225's, CrossCountry Voyagers, Transpennine Express class 185's, Grand Central Intercity 125's and GBRF class 66's

strange that on one of England's premier electrified main lines that the majority of the trains seen are diesel!!

The ECML is only part of the route that some of these trains cover to get to their destinations which involves running on non-electrified track once off the ECML.

Barry Morris yeah the Manchester airport to Middlesbrough goes off the ECML near Northallerton and between Yarm and Middlesbrough it isn't electrified

Northallerton to Sunderland, the Grand Central route, isn't electrified either, nor is anywhere north of Edinburgh. Main reason these trains are being replaced by electrics with backup diesel engines.
