This is such a beautiful thing to watch. You can see the literal bond and trust between them both. It's really sweet.

This seems to show that dolphins do the behaviors because they love to, not because they have to.

They do the behaviours because they know that’s the only way to survive and eat 🤷🏼‍♂️ maybe

What a great video. I love how gracefully the dolphin flips out of the water, like it was nothing, and it looks like they are both having fun :) I wonder if the trainer talks to her in a high pitched voice, because dolphins have high pitched voices themselves?

Thank you. We dont use high pitched voices because it is not known very well what they hear from our frequencies. Because of this reason we better can be safe than sorry and focus on the hand signals as communication tool with them. Which doesnt mean they can't hear us at all. :)

Why feeding her before the training starts? Isn’t it about positive reinforcement? Thanx for the answer!

  • @Zoospensefull

Thank you for your question. The first thing I want to show is that working with dolphins we are not with holding their food. :) Second I wanted to show that food is not the only reinforcer that we can use to work with animals. In this case we use the unpredictability through my body language, the timing of the marker and the variation in my reinforcer to keep the learner interested and motivated to be trained. Not using food doesn't mean you are not using positive reinforcement. Reinforcement can be a variety of different things. Thats what we are showing in this video. :)

this is what the whole video is about. The reinforcement does not have to be one to one in paying for every tiny bit of training, it comes in a lot of variations through playing and having a fun time, asking different types and variations of behaviour. Great style and way of training, thank you.

They have to live in a carefully controlled saltwater environment, unlike a pool that people use. They need a very expensive and controlled diet. Just because you may have the money, you can't have everything you want for your pool. If you put one into a conventional swimming pool, it would die. The world is about more than having pets for your entertainment. Get a life; get a heart.
