Another cracking video, Brian. Driving a train takes a lot of skill. I think its under-appreciated by the general populace. But it is certainly appreciated by me and my fellow subscribers. I sub to Don Coffey too - love his cab-ride vids. Keep up the good work with these videos.

Great videos 👍🏻 I’ve learnt so much about 66’s from you now, keep up the good work. Coming from a HGV background and talking about ‘air pressure’ it all makes sense from what you have described 👍🏻

Interesting stuff Brian. I recorded Trafford Park to Wembley recently so can relate to where your train is berthed. We scooted through and caught the stopper to Euston then pass back to Piccadilly.

‘Ow do Brian. Re: wagon parking brakes: is there a preferred choice of vehicles, such as the 1st 3 behind the loco, to which the parking brake should be applied?

I had a nose about from the bridge over the Hinksey yard today in Oxford, and could hear that high pitched oscillating idle of a 66 from far away - and it continued for the half hour I was there and didn't move. What is that sound - what is it that is left on and why? Cheers for this great content!

The high-pitched component of the engine noise is the turbocharger, if that's what you're asking about.

@@beeble2003 Ok - thanks It's a very distinct sound you can hear it in his video - has a distinct 2 tone sound to it like an alarm. Just wondering why it always seems to be on while idling for maybe an hour.

If the train isn't going anywhere for an hour, would it save diesel to shut it down, or would restarting it at the end of the hour use more?

No they burn more on startup than leaving it running. It also means the air in the train can be lost and it would require handbrakes being applied

Excellent description of how the 66 is safely parked. Anyone watching this channel can see safety is your number one priority - unfortunately you will always get those "woke" warriors criticising your channel and what your doing. Looking forward to watching further uploads. Cheers Euan

Oh do shut up. You Right wingers always start on about "woke this" and "woke that". Change the record and learn to type. Oh and FYI it's you're*. Furthermore, get a real model railway: the N gauge is nonsense.
