Thank you for the review! Very happy you like them. Also the normal buffered Box at the start was specifically included for one reason, and that is a reskin that begins with an N and ends with an L :P

The S&L on the black-liveried Canadian variant stands for the Sydney & Louisburg Railway, and she is their #1. She was lovingly named "Pinkie".

hey tom just saw this video and wanted to point a few bits out. firstly the version with the standard buffers is not the standard box tank design instead the one you drove is. also very happy to see the Ebbw Vale one mentioned as I grew up 10 minutes from that town. Something interesting about the S&L box tank is that there is more information about that box tank than the railway it ran on! so glad you have enjoyed these little goobers and I hope they bring you many hours of enjoyment! Jimmy did amazing on these.

Some very limited context to the Canadian one: it was ordered in 1867 for a coal company in Cape Breton, and worked there for a very long time, and to good effect. I believe it was named 'Pinkie'. S&L stands for Sydney & Louisburg, into whose hands the engine eventually passed.

I built a knock off one of these in GMod recently. I am glad the box tank design is getting some love!

Now the question stands, will one of these appear in 'North Western' as a privately owned industrial engine?

Does anyone know any details on the Neilson box tank fleet? I’m curious to know how long they survived.

I looked into them quite a while ago and do not recall finding any that had made it past the turn of the century, as in 1900. They were also by no means a consistent type of loco other than in the broadest sense of having a box shaped tank, every single one seems to have had some fundimental manufacturing difference to the previous one I found from variations in wheel castings to alterations in the all manor of other core components on top of any changes that you'd expect from each owner tweaking the loco in the process of keeping it going. The later piano tanks got a bit more consistent from what I've seen but these were very much the loco you purchased or leased to construct your railway and get the whole thing going more than the long term motive power investment.
