Train Journey | Irinjalakuda to Trivandrum by 16301 Venad Express
Presenting a video from my journey from Irinjalakuda (Thrissur, Kerala) to Thiruvananthapuram Central (Trivandrum, Kerala) on board the oldest intercity express in Kerala, the 16301 Shoranur - Trivandrum Venad Express. This journey was in Unreserved Second Sitting from Irinjalakuda to Ernakulam Junction, and then in AC Chair Car until Trivandrum Central. The train was hauled by WAP7s from Erode Shed (different locos due to rake reversal)
Venad Express was introduced in the year 1972, as a diesel hauled Meter Gauge train between Trivandrum and Ernakulam. Venad is a very popular commuter train for people travel from the south towards Central parts of the state (and opposite in the evening). Venad Express also had the distinction of having non-AC Double Decker coaches (in the past). This train is the only train in Kerala to have an LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) Intercity rake. This train is also the sole train to still reverse at Ernakulam Junction.

I have travelled in this train between Calicut & Ettumanoor in 1994 :) During those days KK Express used to come into Ernakulam Jn and had rake reversal. Twin ALCOs were used during those days.

nice video, i actually enjoyed all the additional information about the tracks, engines, coaches, etc which you shared. I have been travelling quite a lot on the Venad but did not know this. I have switched to the Jan Shatabdi as work requires me to reach faster, Thanks.

That jerk is the only malady of travelling in the LHB coach. It becomes terrible at times.

Was really very happy to see Irinjalakuda Railway Station. This quaint little station always rings in nostalgic memories of the past. It has been over two and a half years that I was visited Kerala. Was really happy to see that the platform is maintained very cleanly. But I was really sad to see that the huge tree in front of the station that was home to many migratory birds has been partially cut. Lots of people had problem with the bird poop menace. But cutting a tree like this ain't a solution to that. Nonetheless, your videos have always been informative to watch, especially when you go into the details of the trains and their locomotives. Keep the good job going.

Trivandrum Bound Kerala Express or Delhi Bound Kerala express... my guess is that Kerala Express going towards Thrissur Side Your Train Venad is coming to wards North Railway Station i believe

AT 09:37, you had written "Trivandrum bound Kerala Express. But Venad Exp was also going to Trivandrum. How come they were meeting head on?? They need to be one behind the other, right?
