Actually the train cleanliness is something more important than anything :) it's a lot good compare with other....

Cushioned Seat, Glossy Wooden Walls and Clean coaches... It looks cosy and comfy like a premium class in other parts of the world.. Value for money if we compare this service here in India

Dost, thank you for sharing with us the train journey experience of Myanmar. I however felt that you could have emphasized and appreciated all things quaint and beautiful in this foreign country you’ve visited and had not gone into a comparative analysis. Every nation has its own set of challenges, cultural, political, economic etc., and a traveler should always be neutral at best and be appreciative of the local life and experiences. Doing so would accord and earn respect and understanding for the observer and the observed. Best Wishes to you in your adventures.

In good old days Indian railways had coaches of first class with cabins like this one. No AC. That time used be only four classes, 1st AC,1st, 2nd, and 3rd class. 3rd class had wooden benches. 2nd class coaches had cushioned seats but no cabins. 1st class coaches had separate cabins. 1st AC coaches had air conditioned cabins with glass doors and curtains.

Being a Meter gauge train while still covering 650km under 18hr is not a joke. we are really hoping for a trans-asian railway network as soon as Imphal is connected by Indian railway (as long as they extend their Railway network up until Moreh border )

Mynamar Railways trains n station n platforms looks neat n tidy n clean. No litters on station areas n in-between trains areas.. This is what is required n expected..How stations n trains we have are neat n clean n tidy..Lessons to learn..Economically n financially they are backwards but not in their attitudes n behaviours

The reason they don't have website because they do not have a large number of passenger to cater.. Not having a printer is may be they have electricity issue and cannot afford Generator... In terms of train station it seems that it is cleaner than most Indian station.. Yes South india's stations are cleaner.. And for the general compartment it is much better than Indian one as in general compartment in Indian Railways people fight to get seat. Rest stay standing the whole trip... Yes Myanmar is economically less prosper than Indian but chaos is lesser...

In terms of cleanliness, Myanmar railway stations are way too ahead of India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Even the normal local trains are better looking than Rajdhani express, the interiors are well made and looks better.

Meter gauge

They don't have electrification of engines. They run on diesel engines. Also it's metre gauge and can't expect speed. You will be tossed in your seat/berth.

ये सब हमारे यहाँ तब तक सम्भव नहीं है जब तक जनरल डिब्बों की संख्या न बढ़ाई जाए। हमारे देश में आधी ट्रेन तो आंदोलन के चलते रद्द हो जाती हैं या फिर तोड़फोड़ की शिकार हो जाती हैं।

The new coaches are built in China but the diesel locomotive hauling the train on Meter gage Tracks of Burma are gifts from India. YP class built at DLW Varanasi but made surplus as the once vast Meter gage network in India were replaced by Broad gage. Old Indian Meter gage locomotives are used by many Railways of SE Asia, Burma, Malaysia, Cambodia and Vietnam. There are still some surplus Meter gage locomotives parked at Mhow in MP. They too should be reconditioned in India and given as gifts to counter China's aggressive BAR diplomacy.
