The P42s had a Narrow Font K5LA but some of them had a K5L and a K5HA and a K5H.

Josh Leffers reminds me of the commuter railroad that rostered passenger capable GP40-2s which had a wide font K5LA on them. They sounded beautiful.

Nobody really mentioned how good the K3's sound. I really like the K3LA and the K3L with the K3L as my 2nd favorite horn in the video with the last K5LA being my #1 favorite. Train horns = music to my ears

3:55 train horn used on big rigs

The fire trucks in my city have a K3LA horn. Some of them have the present K5LA.

It’s so weird because when the car is far away, you hear the low pitched version from the Doppler effect. But at the same time, it’s echoing what the horn actually sounds like without the Doppler.

All those horns sounded great, especially that old cast P5! P.S. That first horn was actually a K3HA. You can tell by the raised "neck" on the bottom of the manifold.

Had a set of nathans on an ol, single axle dump trk back in the mid 90s 1inch line and 10 gal surge thank just to feed em . it def, got peoples attention.

Can anyone recommend a great air horn like one of these for a semi truck? Looking for actual places I can pull up in a truck and get one fully installed that are as loud as these. Thanks

A school bus should have this so I wont be always missing the bus

at about 1:52 you can hear a real train blowing its horn in the distance. Edit 1:56 I couldnt help but chuckle at this.

Does anyone know what horns can be heard a mile away? I wanted the ones that are on the trains that are over a mile away from my house but I can hear them loud and clear all the time.

Absolutely love the sound of these horns, but I wish the sound wasn't so destroyed by how loud each horn is, lol! I'm trying to find solid non-doppler examples of a K5LA for a game that's being developed, and it seems like they've been fishing for examples from trains on the roll. So, I've come to the land of horn enthusiasts and I must say, I'm quite entertained.

I wish the class 1 railroads had these horns. I miss the old days of Northern Pacific and the unique horns they had.

I don't know squat about train horns, but that was just awesome! Recording the horns on a moving vehicle really "sets the tone" for the horns. I loved the Doppler effect! Great job!

The K5LA reminds me when I see an Amtrak Cascades train at the beach and I hear the horn in the distance. Awesome video!
