I love this song and this version. Pat sang this song with a lot of local talent across the country while touring (Ashley wasn't always available). They weren't all stellar performances, but it was really awesome of Pat to invite local ladies up on stage to sing with him. Please go easy on the critiques. How many famous singers would share the stage with locals? Pat is a class act.

Steve Engebretson well said couldn't agree more he's such a amazing and down to earth guy! Not to mention funny, and very talented! Your so right there is not many that invite other fans up on stage to sing with them and Pat does! He is indeed talented and such a class act

Its not a random local lady, its Marilou, a french signer from Quebec, she did the french version of the song with Train.

He does a contest to pick a random fan. When he came to vermont, He did that too. He's an amazing guy, He even gave a little girl a guitar they all signed at the concert. And he brought tons of girls on stage for the Mermaid song he has. Truly an amazing guy.

I love how he smiles at her a couple times near the beginning, like, "I'm with you...let's do this together." Awesome performance all around.

some singers do truly have amazing voices, yes they tend to fix up the voice and tone and such for a music video or cd but that doesn't mean all singers are horrible live. Plus, a singer shouldn't be defined by their voice, yes ins an important factor but there are other factors also. so yes, everyone could be singers if they really wanted to. good voice or not.

What Id give to be chosen to sing Bruises with Pat! Ive written to the Ellen show, begged the guys on Twitter and Facebook...but nothing. I'm going to the Los Angeles show on Sept. 29, and I don't know how else to get them to notice me :( I'm not thin and gorgeous but I'm a good singer...cross your fingers everyone!

Agree!

When you are singing a duet, you have to match each other in volume output and projection. Pat is singing it just like always, belting it out. The girl has to do the same. Too soft and "breathy".

i agree she has angelic voice and she is amazing singer. but her voice didn't work for this song. i prefer Ashley but i still like this version of the song.

Marilou sings ALOT better in french where she is more natural! I think letting her sing in english just because it was in usa was BAD idea! The song fully in english does'nt lend itself well in my opinion. The original song is half french half english already and americans would dig it just the way it was!
