Thanks man! I just bought a new tongue jack for my trailer and was hoping to find a video on how to replace one. ATB!

Thanks for the video! Just had our horse trailer drop yesterday when trying to move it out after the winter in the paddock - easy peasy! I’ve been applying liquid wrench to the bolts since we managed to get it home last night. I am hoping there aren’t any nuts on the underside of the tongue where the plate sits or I’ll be out there for a while 😬 The tip about grinding the post is great! I’ll carry my bastard file in my pocket just in case! 😉

Thanks, Handy Guy! I'm changing one out tomorrow and will be sure to take a file or small grinder with me to do the job.

mine had a smaller hole at the bottom than it did at the top. I wonder if it'll be easier to install the new one and drill and weld a new flange, or just fix and install the old one.

I notice that your old jack the bottom piece was sideways and on the new jack the bottom piece is straight would that affect anything ?

What kind of torque wrench was that?

Your old jack is probably still good. They last forever if you take the handle off, unscrew the inside to clean and re-lubricate the screw shaft and bearing. Most people just replace them. I've found them thrown away in dumpsters and rebuilt them to work like new. It's so easy, but most people just don't know how to take care of them. It's just a big screw and nut inside that needs to be lubricated to work smoothly, that's all.

My 2007 tent trailer's jack diameter is only 1.4 inch,. If I can not find the right part, I will have hard time to install nowadays 2.25 inch diameter jack into the 1.4 inch hole right?

You will have to modify the hole to fit anything larger.

Just wondering. I have a utility trailer with an A frame jack i need replacing. The manufacturer welded the jack to the lower bracing plate. Is this standard practice? Seems counterproductive.

I don't understand why either, but yes some manufacturers do weld them.

@@HandyGuy2016 ok just thought I was crazy. Especially when none of these fabricators are caught dead without a CNC cutting table that could easily burn a hole to exact specs. Thanks.

This works easy enough.. Unless the jack stand is welded on..

Yeah, like mine. Which looks like it was welded with a snow shovel.
