Tragic Details Found In Buddy Holly's Autopsy Report

Ойын-сауық

Don McLean called February 3, 1959 “The Day the Music Died.” On that day, near Clear Lake, Iowa, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson were killed when their small charter plane crashed in a cornfield. Holly was only 22 years old.
As would be expected with such a horrific accident, Holly suffered severe injuries to his body when the plane went down. The singer-songwriter’s autopsy report shed some light on what exactly happened that night. These are the tragic details found in Buddy Holly's autopsy report.

For years, people spread the rumor that Buddy Holly played at the Community Hall in the thriving metropolis of Vallican, British Columbia. (Population at the time would've been like....3) I once got into an argument with a Supervisor I worked with as he was always trying to prove how smart he was. He claimed Buddy played the Vallican hall in 1961 or 1962. I burst out laughing. I asked him many, many times if he wanted to recant that statement which only made him angrier. Should've seen his face when I told him that Buddy HOLLY died February of '59. What everybody confuses him for was we had a local musician who used the stage name of BUDDY MARR, who had curly hair and dark glasses (because he was blind) and they toured around our little armpit of the world through most of the 1960's. Buddy Marr was actually Nick Keraieff.

Always had to chuckle when someone from Winnipeg said that they lived out west. Well, blow me down. Go one direction after New Denver and hit the Arrow Lake and there is I would be or later go the other direction and stop at the Pulp Mill and don't run me over. Long time ago though. Pet sounds was inspired by Rubber Soul. So Brian Wilson was influenced by the Beatles. And then Sergeant Pepper was inspired by pet sounds. So they were trying to outdo one another for a while there. But in the end the Beatles won. I will say this about the Beach boys. They were the only thing that was keeping rock ‘n’ roll alive at all from 1961 to 1963. And I do mean the only thing. For a VFR rated pilot, when in doubt don't. My Dad was a pilot, he only flew light planes, but emphasized if you see the weather isn't what it needs to be, stay on the ground, or you can get yourself killed. He only had a VFR rating. IFR, or I think it's called IMC, is a different story, and a experienced pilot with an IFR rating could've probably successfully flown that route. Who knows, perhaps the pilot got a little cocky, wanted to pick up some extra cash, and fly some celebrities around gave him the incentive to take this unnecessary risk.

Then ran into a gentleman who was standing next to his friend that fateful night who was getting the last autograph Ritchie Valens ever gave. Visited the crash sight ,ran into Connie again. The plane was at a sharp bank angle and simply went wing tip/prop first into a corn field in terrible visibility with a pilot not certified for IFR flight . Completely avoidable accident. The reality is everyone likely had no clue they were about to crash due to spatial disorientation. Hitting the ground at approximately 170 mph, they likely didn’t feel a thing fortunately. RIP

@@nordicpride9708 So is that why they tell you to put your head between your legs in an emergency of the possiblity of a crash? So that your head can be cracked opened like an eggshell and you won't feel a thing? I heard that was a myth and not the real reason they want you to put your head between your legs. The real reason to do that is to prevent your head and neck from whiplash from the G forces.

The plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper happened 9 years before I was born. I didn't grow up listening to their music, (although, "Not Fade Away" is my favorite Buddy Holly song), but I remember several years ago, back in the 90's, there was a "Behind The Music" episode called, "The Day The Music Died." It was about the Winter Dance Party, and the tragic plane crash that followed. The whole thing was just heartbreaking. Everybody on that plane died in that crash, and my heart goes out to their families and friends. I know this happened back in 1959, but you just don"t get over something like that. Such a horrible tragedy! RIP to the victims of that plane crash.

The bodies of the other 3 men in the plane were mutilated in the crash and unrecognizable, as well. I saw a show a while back where the mortician who received the bodies discussed their condition in detail. The daughter of the Big Bopper had always been tormented by the fact that the gun he carried on him was holding one spent shell casing, causing her to question whether he possibly survived the crash, but killed himself. But upon hearing the autopsy results, it was very clear that he couldn’t have survived the crash, as his head was completely crushed. Gruesome stuff.

Without doubt, Buddy was very special. As a Liverpool kid of about 9-10 years old, whilst staying with an aunty in Heswall, on the Wirral, in a flat above a coffee shop, I remember his music belting out at night from down below. It's potency and impact has never left me, it was magical. I love his music and songwriting ability. I recently read a biography on his life - a real eye-opener. Such talent. I came away thinking what a generous, kind person he was, but, like Elvis, was taken advantage of by others. So generous, always willing to help others in the same game to get the recognition they deserve, not grabbing all the limelight for himself. Like another much-missed pop legend of mine, fellow-Scouser Billy Fury, someone who has a special place in my heart. Thank you, Buddy. I know you had strong Christian faith, so RIP is not a hopeful wish, but a certain confirmation.
