Trafficked: Bus ride from hell | Carte Blanche | M-Net

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟰 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰.
In November last year, a ten-year-old girl was found during a routine traffic roadblock, squashed inside the luggage compartment of a long-distance bus. She had been smuggled from Zimbabwe into South Africa under extreme conditions for several hours. But her case isn’t unusual. In this months-long investigation, Carte Blanche unravels alleged cross-border human trafficking and the shadowy figures known as transporters who are making it all possible. Undocumented foreign nationals are lured to South Africa from numerous African countries - many of them ending up on the streets of Johannesburg North. Thousands of Malawians are lured into the country on the promise of a new life, some smuggled by long-haul bus companies and funeral parlours, only to be forced into sex work and manual labour. In an even more sinister twist, many of the victims are coerced into taking out funeral policies on themselves once they reach South Africa. It’s an unusual demand but a guaranteed income as the transporters cash in on vulnerable undocumented foreign nationals.

Southern Africa's probably are very easily solvable. Get rid of ANC and Zimbabwe's ZANU PF loses its support that has helped it overturn the people's will in all elections since 2008. With ZANU of the map Zimbabweans go home. With a new government in Zimbabwe the borders start doing their job.... no more Malawian migrants coming in via Zimbabwe.

Truth be told, South Africa never had so many Malawians. With illegal foreigners in South Africa, come different types of crimes that the SAPS cannot manage. We are going to have to change government to fully eradicate these illegal foreigners crimes. We definitely need a strong arm of the law. This is not only from Malawi. The illegal Nigerians in this country working in salons were promised jobs in South Africa.

I come from the bad old apartheid days when everything was working and there was law and order in this country. I was a member of the Commando system and we patrolled those borders (Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and to a lesser extent Swaziland) daily. I spent 1 to 3 months per year patrolling those borders as part of my compulsory military service in this country. The best compliment we ever received was from the human traffickers themselves when they stated in an interview that the trafficking was not possible when the SADF (note not the SANDF) Commando's patrolled those borders. They simply could not get past us by illegally crossing the borders. Those days we complained about the waste of time, the heat and being away from our families but today I can honestly say that I am proud and thankful for the contributions we made to the safety of this country and for preventing these horrible practices by the human traffickers.

The sad part is our foreign policy is so flawed..the nationalities that steals the cup from our flawed immigration rules are Malawians, Ethiopians and Zimbabweans .Pity one brush will paint all..South Africa our land 😢😢😢

Why can't everyone go back home because South Africans themselves do not have employment. So, how does the government employ foreigners when it can hardly employ it's citizens? And if they are just loitering in public parks, that's a receipt for disaster. Please let them relief South Africa of the service delivery burden. Another reason why our country has become so filthy because people are not properly placed.

One thing I hate of Carte Blanche is that no one ever gets arrested, why cant they set up sting operations along with the relative parties(eg. police etc) to get these guys charged and jailed. After the culprits were being confronted they will still carry on with illegal activities if they are not jailed especially if they are from other countries. They will never respect us
