TRAECHEOSTOMY (TRACH) TUBE CHANGE
In this teaching Video, George's colleague Sean demonstrates how to perform a tracheostomy tube change on a patient. A cuffed single lumen Portex Tube is currently in the patient and it will be changed (downsized) to a cuffed fenestrated Shiley TT. Sorry about some of video quality.....still learning how to do camera shots without bumping into things

That is very comprehensive video especially for all interns interested in intubation. Thanks a lot.

Is the suction loud
Okay, few questions: Why is the patient in supine for a tracheostomy tube change? This is serious risk for aspiration. Second, the instructor does not remove the obturator before inflating the cuff. This is blocking the patent airway of the patient.

Luke Moran if you pay attention, the obturator was taken out prior to the Cuff inflation! Good point though!

@@allya4253 Furthermore, although the type of TT insertion is a correct form of insertion, the act of insertion whereby rotating the tube 90 degrees greatly increases the risk of tracheal tissue damage and subcutaneous emphysema. The least risk involves simply inserting the TT following the natural anatomical structure curvature.

Hi Ashley: I have additional suction therapy videos on my KZread Channel. Please check them out and if let me know if there's something more specific about suctioning that you'd like to see. Thanks for watching and hope that you have an excellent school year. George
Hi George, Are u aware of any online plans for a simple manual ventilator that can be constructed from commonly available materials by unskilled laborers? This maybe possible, if not currently available, I see this as a possibility that warrants some investigation given that predicted shortage of these devices.. please comment.
"Once I've gone sterile, I'll just stand here with my tube in my hand and when my lovely assistant is ready shes going to tell me and I"m going to just put it in!" lmfao
She took the humidifier tube off the floor and reinserted it to pt.?
Hi George, We've designed a ventilator for COVID-19. About some ventilation mods and some other details, we've some questions you. Can we have some chat? Regards,
