@11:50 "you don't want to have a spirit you don't fully understand in the confines of your home..." Can we ever fully understand these spirits? Even if we feel we know them, can they not be dishonest with us about their nature? Do we really have any standing to make any negotiations or conditions with these spirits?

I recently came into possession of a Winiama Leper mask, at least I think thats what it is. Masks call out to me, the synchronicity places them and myself in the right place and time for them to end up in my home. I offered this mask rum in lieu of having millet beer. This one feels like it has something dwelling inside it. Where can I find more resources to understand how to care for it?

It would be lovely to consult a spiritualist near you to get a reading on the mask. If there's a presence associated with your mask, find out it's purpose and terms. That's very important to help you determine that your purpose aligns. If the mask truly calls out for you connect with it when you meditate/pray and ask it to open up to you. Be careful

@@SEVICSAFRICA No one in this area has a clue about african masks. My own culture has a masking tradition in which we feed and care for the spirit of the mask but its not entirely the same and most of the information is kept by a secret society that wont just share information to any old neophyte. I know this mask wants to dance, its made that quite clear. My offering of drink came with an exchange of watching over the home, simple exchange. I have not meditated on it opening up to me more then our exchange of shelter and drink in exchange for protection. I do not feel I know enough yet and it may be very unwise for me to toy with forces outside my wheelhouse. I have a number of african items that I believe were made for the tourist trade but I couldn't tell you if I've misidentified an item, for example I have a Nkisi, but it lacks the mirror instead it has a circle shaped into the tummy and seems to be made of some fired clay. But I'll keep doing my research and see if I can find anyone with a knowledge base.

This one jumped off the wall and made its hanging string disappear for half a day only for the string to be next to me in another room, this was before I gave it a drink. Since then it seems to have been appeased and no strange activity has occurred. Even if this was a tourist trade mask, whoever previously owned it or made it I'm sure let an entity house in it. Seems benevolent. As I understand it, the male and female figures on top represent someones ancestors. And the x shape on its plank from my research conveys learning from said ancestors. Ideally I'd return this to its place of origin but thats on the other side of the planet. Its had quite a journey to end up here and I intend to care for it and if the chance ever comes up to bring it back to its homeland I'll do so.
