It’s kind of shocking how humble the homes are. Seems like all the home shows and Instagram esthetic now has us convinced everyone lives like millionaires.

I watched this show every day after school before it became super popular. Looking at these designs, though... 😬 What the heck were we doing back then? 😂

Why? Just because your taste is different from theirs doesn't mean they are faking! I personally loved that zebra room! I would love to have that room.

I swear this show is the reason why minimalism is on trend.

Frank and Vern rarely came up with something people didn't love. Watched this show every time.

The host was perfect. But this show was a menace

That was the only design I liked. I felt like I was on Vacation in Africa!

The women seem happy, the men all seem to be in disbelief.

Imagine trying to sell those houses now...

They were just as hideous back then.

The last two neighbors were so cute and sweet. Most of the designs were horrid but I'm so glad they liked them. That's what matters.

I miss this all so much. My family and I used to watch this show, usually on weekend mornings and all of us enjoyed it. I think it's just so cool to see people connecting on the level that the two couples did in these episodes, and the effort put into many of the DIY projects- I'll say that very little in any of these aged well, but it's just fascinating to me how much these folks cherished what their friends did and what it meant to them. Not to mention, it really shows how much personality and individuality people seemed to favour back then, rather than sterile, millennial grey spaces made to look nice in an instagram post.. This was also before TLC became a terrorist organization as well. Makes me appreciate the time period I grew up in.

A modern Trading Spaces would take rooms like these and turn them back to normal.

I remember the episode with the metal wall. It looked cool. One of the better designs, but.... well I'm glad it's not mine.

Keep in mind all of these are from like 20 years ago. Blinding white and prison gray wasn’t popular back then. People actually wanted color lol

I am thoroughly convinced that they found people who are planning to move and are selling their homes “as is”. that’s the ONLY way someone could be excited about these “makeovers”.

These rooms…. I feel like I got high and found a very dark deep place in my brain I never wanted to remember… the colours/ Thames / the sheer Hurrific horror of these rooms…. Is this swap with your best friends or worst enemies - I literally can’t believe some of the end results… and not in a good way-

The HEIGHT of god AWFUL taste. Was anyone else sometimes confused about what room was the before and what was the after?

To be fair, it’s 20 years ago and it’s difficult to have a timeless design, especially on a $1000 budget. For example, 6:52 is a nicely decorated room, with neutral colors but it stills looks outdated. Sarah Richardson has timeless rooms from 20 years ago but she’s working with $20,000 plus budgets.

I feel like I am in an asylum Edit: It's like every dystopian movie threw up.

I actually absolutely loved that first kitchen it’s tacky but fun and adorable! Total win!!!

Most of these are horrible, the befores and afters. So much sage green. Man, that color was popular in the early 2000's.

The pixelated wall gives me a headache. And the red retro redux is overkill.

I love how it’s always crappy superficial DIY changes with some cheap furniture covers, instead of ya, know actually buying some decent furniture and decorative pieces that would transform the room in a good way, because that would cost too much… though I’m sure the recipients would much rather the $1000 budget have been spent on a few pieces of nice new furniture than on a bunch of superficial junk….

I notice a lot of these rooms were designed by Frank. Not a surprise.

Do they have to scream so loud? My neighbours now think I am the crazy one.

The color pallet for all the walls, the colors are all muddied up.

Not a good one in the bunch.

Love this Show with Paige Davis and all the Designers. But these rooms before & after are Bottom Shelf Design at best. Ugh. I do like the Jungle Themed Room and the curtained bedroom.

I remember one where a designer stapled record albums to the ceiling. I think the homeowner was bullshit.

Before Instagram and the off white/ beige backgrounds were in. I mean nothing like dressing your whole family and sitting in your white room. 😂. But yeah, this show- Doug- I remember he always decorated everything in brown 🤪
