I teach mixed media calligraphy at a Christian school to middle school and high school students. I have been playing instrumental praise. The students asked to play something more upbeat. They chose Taylor Swift. Today, they asked me to play something I chose. I played Tracy Chapman, and they loved her music!

I turn 62 yesterday and I have spent the last 10 years alone. I did have one girlfriend for a couple months but she proved to be what I call a non partner. A Robber a thief if you will. Yeah now that I've gotten older I don't settle for non partners. Life be too short for that for sure for real. I'm in my 30s and it blew my mind recently to learn that she was an artist active with her biggest hits coming out during my lifetime. I always assumed this song and Fast Car were from the 70s. Even during my childhood they seemed to just be these monolithic, established songs that were part of culture.

Tracy has an amazing voice. I think she didn’t quite get where she was destined to be. I feel like a singer of her caliber should have been much more famous and played on the radio significantly more.

The people who decide what we get to see have a pretty fixed idea what will be massive. They want a product that they can turn over as cheaply as possible for the quickest return. Unfortunately this usually means very beautiful people who do what they are told, there is a regular supply of those. Again unfortunately, major talents can fall by the wayside in this process, but maybe it's actually better in the long run for people to be moderately successful than to live some impossible celebrity lifestyle

My mom loved this song. Every Fourth of July, when we were outside barbecuing, I would play it for her. She’s been gone for 10 years now, but this song always brings back happy memories. It’s one of my favorites too!

Music was real back then! One if my favorite songs

I'm here cause I'm 70, I use to be a "Singer, Lyric and Music Writer, Guitar Player", tho I wasn't even Remotely Close to Tracy's Caliber Music has Always been Particularly Magical....a Hearler. If My Life hadn't Taken a "360+++++" Turn that Took All of My Dreams Away, Who Knows what could have Happened
