Great ideas. 👍 I hung a bungee cargo net under the canopy to hold light weight items like rags, hats, ropes, snacks and paper bags etc.

It's not really a "mod" per se but I added bright yellow grease zerk covers to all of the grease points to help as a visual reminder of where the grease points are. once they get covered with dirt/grease, they can be heard to see.

The tool box was my first. Now i want the log chain boxes because i am tired of them laying in the floor of the operators station. I have also added the chain hooks to my bucket(very handy) and the steering wheel knob. I don’t typically do much tractor work after dark but i can see where the led lights would be handy. Thanks for sharing these great ideas

I live near the Smoky Mountains so axle spacers and Rim Guard in the tires really helps stability. I have a B2601 with Bro-Tac spacers, of the reputable companies they were the cheapest at the time. If the ground is dry I can handle 30 degree grades on R14 tires with no pucker factor. I used the 3" rear spacers and 1 1/2" front spacers, the tires still set inside the 60" mower deck and they do fit contrary to Kubota's reconditions. I also changed all the factory bulbs to LED bulbs from Amazon, huge difference.

A chest pack is a good way to keep personal items at hand and enclosed. I got the chest pack idea from experience wearing a chest holster, while working in bear country, operating 4 wheelers and other light equipment. Translates well to the tractor. I do find the lack of storage on tractors amusing.

Thanks for paving the way for us with all these mods! For my BX23S, so far Ive added the steering knob, LED light bars (front and rear of ROPS), some locking holders on each side of the rear of the ROPS for holding a weedeater or pole saw, and rear wheel spacers. Im currently fabricating a toolbox holder while training myself to weld (tricky stuff, LOL). I plan to add the bucket hooks once my welding skills get up to acceptable standards. Currently looking at different toothbars for purchase soon. And the ROPS cover and chain/strap boxes are soon to follow!

I have added a number of your upgrades to my L3901. Some not exactly like you but with the same idea. The add on fuse box, USB voltmeter, power outlet, Bare-co Canopy, rear lights, front & side lights are purchased and will be installed soon, SSQA is purchased and will also be installed shortly, and I already had a piranha bar. I am looking at a where to mount my chain box and looking at larger toolboxes, and a carryall has been on my list for years. Thank you for all the great ideas. Suggestion for you would be to put a handle on the right-side fender. If you have any hills or slopes its nice to have something to grab on to. I also painted my step and floorboards with Rhino coat when the paint started wearing off. Thank you again.

I love all ky mods. I have a few to install like my bolt on grab hooks and a few other things, but my most favorite ones are my cutting edge, sway bars(upgrade from turnbuckles), and rops lights, both front and back, and the bx quick hitch, and the rops toolbox holder(although the oem box is junk), but my most favorite and prized mods are all the mods I bought from Paul & Kathy Short. I have an "EZ ON" step, steering wheel knob, diff lock ext pedal, rops light holder, a few stickers. I hope I havent forgotten anything. I have a video from last year or so and I'll upload it as soon as my internetspeed is fast enough. GOD Bless.

Another great video Martin! I took the plastic tool box off and brought it to work to store pencils in, it has proven it’s worth for that application. On my M series replaced with custom tig welded diamond plate aluminum box. On the L2501 did a husky brand 20” steel box for a more cost effective solution. Have been considering a canopy with fan for long days of hay season.

Great vid Martin. Can't argue with any of that logic. The day I took delivery I added the steering wheel spinner and LED headlight bulbs. Shortly after that the ROPS lights. Since then I replaced the stock side link with a Kubota ratcheting model (similar to your leveling box). Next will likely be some weld-on hooks. I'm still deciding which route to go for a better tool box. - Chris

Hey Martin. Great minds think alike. I installed a couple document tubes that you'd find on implements for holding a few tools, rags, etc. Also went crazy with welding on snatch hooks, slip hooks, d-rings and a receiver tube on the bucket. Friend of mine called it a Swiss Army Bucket. I also have the canopy and just installed front and rear work lights, and I have a smaller light under the throne for seeing the 3-point at night. I saw where you mentioned you added Ken's Bolt-on hooks to your bucket, however, you did not make a video of this. I was wondering did you use Ken's standard bolt-on grab hooks or Ken's square back quick attach bolt-on hooks with shim for Kubota Tractors? My tractor is identical to yours - L3901 HST with LA 525 bucket and I am confused, maybe both types of hooks will work, and I am overthinking this too much. For me, a canopy is essential during the hot summer months in Georgia. I didn’t realize how great a tooth bar was until I got one, but now I consider it essential because of how much it improves the digging capabilities of my FEL. Thanks for watching!

If you were the Kubota Engineer. What way would you make a factory light for the tractor.. i assume off the ROPS.

Yes, definitely mounted on the ROPS. It throws the light much farther and you can get 360 degree lighting which I like a lot. And of course you can use the FEL without blocking the light. Thanks for watching!

Excellent video, and great points on the mods! I have a question, though. On the metal ammo cans (which I've been wanting to add to mine for quite some time now!), you said that they were held on with J.B.Weld, but it looked to me like they were bolted on. (I'm pretty sure I saw 2 bolt heads on the inside of both ammo cans.) Can you clarify that for me?

Thank you, Tim! The threaded studs are attached to the FEL tower with J B Weld and the cans are bolted to the studs. If you Watch my video on the chain boxes you’ll see how I did it and why they have held so well. Thanks for watching!

What is your opinion on wheel spacers to increase stability?

  • @DIYMyWay

I believe that wheel spacers do increase stability - by a little bit. But that little bit could make all the difference if you use your tractor on hilly property. I’d go with liquid ballast or wheel weights for the rear tires first. You’ll get more stability by lowering the center of gravity of your tractor. The best solution is to do both. Thanks for watching!

@@DIYMyWay I have liquid in the tires. Some sources and said that spacers put to much stress on the axle, others say it's okay. I'm confused.

@@jerryshurt Most spacers I’ve seen only add a couple of inches to either side of the axle so it’ hard to imagine that adding too much stress to that axle. You might consult you dealership about it. Good luck!

Has anyone put a skid plate under their tractor so that they can drive over thick brush and small trees without worrying about it damaging anything underneath? I've got about 20 acres of thick brush that I need to brush hog and my neck gets tired quickly when I am backing over it.
