    nice video. i do appreciate your honesty and common sense approach. i have diferent brand of mini track loader. my machine has 2 sets of aux hydraulic conections one high flow continuos say for a brush cutter yhe other low flow for somthing like a grapple bucket. also i noticed a comment about how tracks tear up the ground a experienced contientous operator can very gentle and make light footprint with little distubance. no couterrotating when turning a taking a little extra. thanks have fun!

    I considered one of those mini skids for awhile and they do seem handy. Man do they tear up the ground though, as do all skid steers. Looks like you're having fun with it though!

    I rent a mini skid for some jobs, they are extremely useful. I could see having a grapple using it for debris cleanups. Also better for not tearing up turf.

    I'm curious as to why you would use the mini skid as your firewood mover? You have a skid steer that you would not have to modify with weights to lift them quite easily.

    He's just showing us what it's capable of. The mini isn't really a practical investment for the type of work Brock does but nothing wrong with trying it out since he's got it. Seems it's the perfect machine for a suburban landscaper getting through narrow gates or other urban environments where space is tight as it beats doing things by hand.

    He stated that he is using it multiple times as a PRIMARY firewood machine. He just made a short video as well, saying the same thing. Undersized machine for those totes. I would not promote that on a channel with obvious inexperienced operators watching. If you do not know how to operate a machine with a heavy load, it can be quite dangerous. Especially in a machine where you have no seat belt. Also the stress on those pins and bushings is not good.

    Put on two flow controls on the grapple hoses. You can adjust the opening speed and closing speed independently They will have check valve in them, such as a Parker F600S (3/8) Dont mix tour threads!.

    Put a needle valve in-line to control the flow on the grapple speed. A needle valve will control flow in both directions where a flow control only controls in one direction, causing you to need two for each direction of flow.

    I’m sure I could figure something out to make it work, but they have flat weight plates that are made to bolt in a certain spot and they have agreed to send those to me Basically the same thing, but less effort on my part

    That's awesome that Artillian makes a mini skid adapter. Does it adapt the fork frame to work or is it a whole new frame? I stopped by Artillian (located at the Curtis Cab building) to pick up a stump bucket a few months ago. Great guys there!

    Great video Brock. I see some other people commented about using your full size skid steer or for the same money buying a used skid steer that has more capability. Both are valid points; however, originally I believe your intent was to use this machine (you didn't buy it) to test it's capabilities and show people what a mini can and can't do so they can better make up their minds if it would work for their application. Keep on videoing!

  • @RockhillfarmYT

    @RockhillfarmYT

    Yeah, the idea is to compare different options. This machine cost less than half of a full size skid steer. The same would be true whether the machines were new or used.

    Great little machine but I don't see the use of such a machine unless you're a professional contractor working in extremely tight places like inside buildings on demolition jobs or small yards with narrow passages then I understand the use of it keep up the good work and let the videos come Greetings from Norway

    It would all depend. In Australia at least a name brand mini skid loader costs around the same amount as a 50HP tractor with a loader. For most land holders a tractor is a better machine. So not many farmers or land holders would buy one. Most land holders would be better off buying an excavator for this money. However in Australia you can buy a mini skid steer made in China. These machines cost around a third what name brand machines cost. I have no idea what they are like. I suspect for this price if you have the skill, tools, time and patience to maintain a Chinese mini loader, it could be a good machine.
