Tracking My Evo at Virginia International Raceway
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
When last we left off with our trackday series, we were fresh off our second track weekend with NASA Mid-Atlantic. While Ben finished the weekend with his Evo still in good shape and ready to go, my Escort was not so lucky. Unable to get the motor swapped in time for our third and final track weekend, we'd have to improvise. At last, it was time for us to return to Virginia International Raceway, for 2018's NASA Hyperfest.

Still a very underrated Channel
Let this be a lesson to anyone that wants to get a lot of track time in .. leave your car as stock as possible ! And go have fun ! I tracked my miata stock for 2 years before I did anything and the engine is still stock and I’m way faster then most people at every event I go to
Wow, you guys must be great friends sharing cars. That’s really cool!!!!
Just have to love a good Evo
Lol hey guys, sorry being early this is the best chance i got ur a massive inspiration and like the reason I bought my e36. so... danke i guess

Speaking of inspirations, I thought of this after watching their road trip: a road trip in Japan with one of the purposes being to attend a celebratory day for a certain model/platform driving a JDM, my JDM (I live outside Japan). Shipping costs would be the biggest hurdle I reckon.😂
Keep documenting these track days!!! These are phenomenal and definitely some of best videos on KZread!
Awesome video guys! Really really inspiring!
The quality of y’all content is insane!
Please don’t stop uploading track days! I love them
This made me all the more excited to get my Evo 8 (which I've never driven) put together and enter a hpde. AutoX is fun but this looks like a blast.
Amazing storyline, amazing videography keep churning up the episodes guys!!!!
The CTR makes a guest appearance! Woohoo! In the best color too, championship white.
Awww I love this!
cars - whoaaa. more cars - whoaaa.. puppy corgy - awwwwwwww
Awesome. Cant wait to run VIR with our cars!
nice shooting and pics.. cool work
The last time I was this early for a gears and gasoline video Ben’s ford still had an intact engine... Nah just kidding guys, love your video’s, keep it up! Love from Victoria, Australia!

i like that tease for driving ben's car
I love his Evo
aww I love the track videos....
Loving the trackday content. 2:20 at VIR isn't bad at all in mixed conditions on street tires. It's one of the best tracks in North America (humble opinion), and NASA MA is a great organization. I wish I lived closer, but it's at least still less than a day's drive.
I track day in England when ever I can love the videos keep it up
Evo for life man.
Best channel on youtube , just be honored you guys found G&G
That Evo is well built. Looks fun as fuck to drive!
Time to sell the Escort. And more sleep next time! Great video guys . Tracking is a blast
Lana is a beauty... But will be more sooner than later for sure.
Excellent channel
Very Nice vid keep up the good content 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
This channel is way much better than the current top gear
I dont understand why this channel doesnt have more subscribers both Ben's make great content and film so well
hey guys, it would be nice if sometime you posted the costs of a track day, just to know how much an event like hyperspeed cost. love the content
@ethanmonat
5 жыл бұрын
The cost varies depending on which group it is with. NASA Mid-Atlantic typically charges around $390 for a two-day HPDE event; $50 for a Hyperdrive session. Tickets for Hyperfest (which are admission-only) are usually around $40-$50. As a novice, you'll probably also want to factor in costs for track insurance ($200-$300 per event from Lockton), fuel (trackside fuel is EXPENSIVE [like $3.50/gal for 93 oct] and you'll easily go through a tank a day), and travel, food, and lodging. If you do it as cheaply (and riskily) as possible, you can do a trackday for around $500; taking insurance, staying at a hotel, not leaving the track for gas, etc., and you're looking at $1000.
UR EVO IS SO BEAUTIFUL
great channel guys.👍
That white Evo doesn't look like it has stock suspension; it looks lower.

Understanding how your tyres behave at the sidewall under load would help you a lot in maximizing your in/out speed through any turns.
Gday sirs. Love seeing that beautiful evo at work. Btw any chance you could be doing another road trip video series? That was very enjoyable to watch :)
Bens, or Ben's, or Ben², or whatever... wonderful job guys.
I love trackdays 👍🏻
I would love to see you guys keep posting your track day videos, assuming it didnt get in the way of the rest of your content. You guys probably hear this a lot, but your channel and your content is fantastic, and I would love to see you guys keep with it as your number grow, and head up to Pittsburgh some time, the car scene here is awesome!
I'm just waiting for the big explosion of subs for this channel. I know youtube has recommended it to me and my friends alot recently. I had never heard of this channel till the first episode of the Alaska trip and now I've seen every video
Premium videos as always!!
I saw the evo there hopefully you'll be there in 2019 would love to see it up close
Love it!
SHE MOVIN UP!
Looking forward to seeing you guys at more nasa events. Y'all should come out to a champcar event
Yes. You guys finally figured out that the best car to start tracking is a near stock one. All these youtubers that spend years "building" cars for the track and never end up just going are doing it wrong. A safe car is a car you can learn to drive fast in.
Could have sworn saw a video of the dude swapping out his escort engine and another of the Evo switching out to to coil overs lol
I spy Chad Gilsinger's NSX at the 5:22 mark. Watched it run at COTA for the National Championships and man was it fast.
Keep filming the track days please :)
noooo, don't stop the track day videos D:
2 hrs away from VIR. I will go with you
Keep the trackday videos up, would be a shame to not publish this great content.
Drift event next :)
Just get your car on the track! I waited so long to track my 240 thinking I needed a big turbo, suspension, etc... and after years of wasted track time I finally got my car “ready” and they sold the track and closed it down. Now here in Hawaii there’s no road course. I’m so bummed
6:03 That M5 tho
Ben, I noticed you were running Garageline spacers on the evo in a previous video. Are you tracking the car on them? I'm wondering because I have them on my Focus ST and I want to track it.
@GearsandGasoline
5 жыл бұрын
The garageline spacers are super high quality. Bolton and lovely. I need wider, more negative offset wheels for my tires though
Love your channel guys. Keep up the good work! What cameras/setup do you guys use for in car footage out on track?
Haha you were racing billy and his Porsche from Hr8built in NC
Just joined your channel and loving it, how much kw are you getting out of your evo?
I'll track with you guys :-)
If everyone is calling them underrated, they’re not that underrated! Just like the damn R33.
I really wish there was an actual track anywhere near Missoula Montana....
I’m trying to figure out how to get my car out to a track like this. I have done a ton of research and even signed up for some forums with really no response. I’m in fl and i know it’s got to be a common thing for people to take their built cars to a track. Thanks and awesome video

I feel bad that you guys don,t get the views you deserve.
Dam, I miss my Evo😞
I think it would be very cool if you filmed the other track days for youtube
My shop class teacher participates in lawnmower races in virginia ! ( i think that was his at 3:54 )
Sad day for ben
Great video! Just curious, what part of Virginia are you guys in? I'm in Northern Virginia.
How much does it cost and is it "only" two hours on the track? Also, is there no rule against having the front windows down on track? Love the videos =)
@5PYZ3R
5 жыл бұрын
The rules are to keep windows down. Contains shattered glass and you have to do point bys.
@kisse1987
5 жыл бұрын
I see, i know you need your windows up here in Sweden on some trackdays so debris stays out. I think rally races also tend to leave windows up for similar reasons? This is the first time i have heard about point-bys =) i feel it to be unsafe to stick an arm out the window while on a track, why not use turn signals? Im honsetly curious,

The amount of track time varies depending on the group and event. NASA-MA is often Saturday-Sunday, two 20 min and two 25 min sessions per day, for a total of around 180 minutes - but no guarantees. Incidents on track, weather, etc. can affect track time. Both SCCA and NASA require that both front windows are down during track driving, for numerous reasons including but not limited to: emergency workers being able to get people out of wrecks without smashing windows, less/no flying glass during a crash, being able to give hand signals for point-bys.
Hey guys. I have a 2005 EVO8 MR. What spring rate did you guys go with on those swifts for street use/track use? I might be looking into those 510s
👍👍👍
Amazing video as always guys, Ben you’re making me so antsy to track my Evo. I gotta hit you up on instagram to pick your brain a bit

what's those tires you use for this day? yokohama or sailun ?
Gears and Gasoline what part of Virginia are you guys from? I live about 3 1/2 hours from Vir. About 2 hrs from DC.
One of my big regrets when I had my Evo IX MR was that I never got around to tracking it. Was always my intention, but just didn't come to fruition. 😕
What part of Virginia are you guys from??
hope you still keep your escort.or buy ford focus rs mk3;)
Are you running wheel spacers during this track day?
