Wow! Thank you so much Pleasent Green and everyone even commenting on this video. Other than everyone who has marked the page as scam which I am 100% grateful for... this is the most help I've received in trying to get this page removed. I can't thank you and everyone else enough. Never thought I'd even see myself going through this.

Even in Nigeria, NOBODY pays in advance before meeting an agent. They may ask you to pay before they take you to the property but even that is AFTER you've seen the agent. The scammer is definitely not smart, that's for sure. But, just to be accurate, in large buildings it is not uncommon for the comfort conditioning to be maintained by and billed to the building owner, and not reflected on the tenant's electric bill. The owner / management company then sets a rent structure to cover those costs.

As a cashier, I actually helped stopped some poor guy from being scammed by a “real estate agent”. He came in buying a Home Depot gift card for $200, saying said it’s a deposit for a property he was interested in. I immediately told him he better look into it, cause no legitimate realtor will ask for payment in gift cards. He then stated he had forgotten his payment card, and would be back, but never did. I’m really hoping it’s because he took my advice and was too embarrassed to admit his screw up. Either way, I’m glad I helped him in that moment, and it was a reminder that these scammers really are everywhere.

@@PleasantGreen I tried to stop an older man from buying 4 google play gift cards at a grocery store a few months ago. I noticed him with them at the cash and after intently listening to him for a moment talking to the cashier, I finally heard him ask the cashier where it is on the cards that he has to scratch off the reveal the numbers. Once I heard that I jumped right in and told him I think he might be getting scammed. He said no, they were for his sister in law and she emailed him asking for them…I told I am confident that’s a scam, and he said no he’s sure it’s not and he already thought about that. I asked him if he spoke to her on the phone to confirm and he said “no, she’s in the hospital with cancer, I can’t phone her.” I pleaded with him not to buy the gift cards and told him he had better be absolutely certain they really are for his sister in law, because everything points to this being a scam. He says yes he is absolutely certain. To this day I really think he fell victim to a scammer, but I hope that I am wrong, or hopefully at least after I left I hope maybe he decided against buying the gift cards.

Its so awful that there are so many greedy people at the very top of these scam operations, taking advantage of the less fortunate people in an otherwise fine and even beautiful country. Honestly the amount of fake gfx artists from Nigeria running amok on Fiverr alone is enough to show someone how out of hand the whole situation over there with scammers is.

There is no recourse if the person is a scammer. Zelle is for paying people you personally know to pay your babysitter or split dinner with your friends. Zelle even explains this in their terms and Conditions/FAQ. If a person you don't know asks you to pay by Zelle (or cash app, or PayPal friends and family) , RUN

I think it has to be an international effort because people who got scammed has to go to the police and they should contact the social media companies for IPs and such. Then the US should provide information to Nigeria and if the information is sufficient they can do something. And a lot of scams don't look like they are organized like scams with call centers behind them. And I would also believe bribes too because I can believe any government to be corrupt. But this sounds like a big hit on a country's reputation which would hurt them a lot, be it tourism or trade.

Great to see you helping with this! Here in Australia, there is currently a huge shortage in rentals and a kot of families are becoming homeless and desperate, there has been a huge spike in rental scams. The scammers usually advertise on sites like facebook marketplace and gumtree, they are usually 'out of state' or 'deployed in the military' so they can't show you the inside of the house, but they tell you to go and have a look outside. When you agree to take the property they take a deposit, and even in some cases the whole bond and 2 weeks (6 weeks of rent) to secure the property and then they block and take the advertisement down before relisted the same or another under a different account. A lot of families are falling for this sadly.

The realty company that is managing the property we are renting did almost all of that (with the "kindly" language and the application fee before ever showing us the property). While it is a real house and we moved in, they've ghosted us multiple times during a 3 month construction project in the house that I've had to help coordinate while having to live in alternate housing. Frustrating that sometimes real reality companies are like that, but it sure is indicative of a bad experience. Glad you could expose the scammers!

I ened up showing up to the house and the cops were already there taking reports from the other 12 people that showed up thinking they can finally see the house and that's when I found out 7 more of us got scammed. The lowest was 150 all the way to 2500. I got lucky and stopped at 700. The house was on the market to buy, not rent and they used the selling listing to copy it and put it up for rent on Facebook. God knows how many more before the listing got taking down. I lost that money and I'm on disability so it hurt. There's a zelle lawsuit about frauds and stuff that they're not doing enough to stop this or get the money back. Thank you for educating people about this kind of scam!!!! Also keep up the good work!!!

On real estate scams- my brother secured his current house by paying application fees before viewing the place or meeting the agents. He did this through a legit rental company using zillow to host the listing and this is apparently the norm for this process because I live in an area where demand for housing is extremely high. These companies pressure people to send the money quickly because it's true that if they don't, someone else will snag it. I dont fault people for falling for these scams because property rental as a system is so close to a scam anyway
