That must have been painful, it's definitely a bass that I would want to save up and buy, but I would be saving up for a long time. I used to own a wal fretless which I traded in for a status 2000 (new band wanted a fretted bass sound), that was away back before they were selling for ridiculous prices on Reverb, good basses but not worth 8-10 thousand.

This pop up in my KZread Channel quite sometime ago & then was gone but since KZread uses programs that monitor our preferred links to music/nands/movies Et al that it just popped up again but this time I closed my eyes & for a reason because as soon as the keyboard player laid down his synthetic chords on the Rowland RD - 700 GX & then switched the sound to be like a piano was as good no as great as I remembered it & maybe its just me but the Roland delivered one of the best synthetic piano sounds & playing that would've seen me think it was a piano... I'm sure this isn't a very old keyboard/synth player but IF it is its one of thee best at replicating the sound of a piano & when I still watch DVD concerts of solo acts & bands I've listened to in 4 plus decades I've found that even now some of those bands keyboards & synth player sticks with what they used 4 decades ago & though they deliver a great sound but I've always that replicating the sound of a piano to always be difficult for acts to do , yet the sounds on this Roland for piano , sounds amazing or either that or my hearing is getting worse but with the latter I don't think so , not yet at least!.. In light of this still ongoing coronavirus and it's variants stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world... ..... Rowland RD - 700 GX

Even though I like Mark King started out on Drums first but then i moved on to bass guitar (begrudgingly at first) as at that time in the 80's it was now fashionable & an in demand job if you played the bass guitar but my brief point is although there's no physical drum kit being played the E Drums actually sound really good... Unless a drummer was used & recorded so they could use the playback track whenever they wanted without asking a drummer to to do this for them!.. A sweet groove thats locked in the pocket & there's no sign of a lead guitarist or singer to make this sound any better than it is already is, as what is being played will serve this instrumental song well whatever the lead guitarist & singer do, & thats if they did choose to add them to this instrumental... I'll probably get pelters for saying this & even though i own a Status Series II & a Status KingBass Artist which i bought both last year & though amazing bass guitar's i can only guess that Mark King's Status Bass Guitar's don't sound as good to me when i watch Level 42 play Live, yet mine on my settings sound absolutely brilliant... I think it might be something as simple as Mark's sound preference that he prefers now which probably has changed since the 80s & the settings on his Status Bass & Amp for me make his Status Bass Guitar's sound a bit thin & tinny & lacking any bass while rolled onto the back pick up but i cant help but convey what many bass player's & fan's have been saying for decades & that is that we wish Mark would go back to using the JD Supernatural Series Bass Guitars again when touring & performing Level 42 song's but its his choice & he still (like the rest of the band) always plays an amazing set each time i see them Live... Lets hope that Level 42's 40th Anniversay Tour (which i booked 2 Tickets for) titled " From Eternity To Here " a play on words from the Award Winning Movie " From Here To Eternity " goes ahead this October 2021 As last year their 40th Anniversay Tour which was due to go ahead & was due to kick off in October 2020 was cancelled because of this Covid-19 & has been rescheduled to kick off this October 2021 if all goes well with regards to this Covid-19 not causing us to go into Full Lockdown's again... I meant to comment on this instrumental year's ago & as i was doing so i accidentally hit back & came out of this link page & when i tried tl find it again it was something else in its place & it never showed up on my history list which i found odd!.. But now it has shown up again & it sounds just as sweet as i remembered it... Without bashing Status or any other brand of bass guitar for me it will always be the John Diggins range of bass guitar's that made Mark Kings bass lines sound amazing & though i spoke with & had dealings with Rob Green & all at Status who were amazingly helpful with regards my Status Bass I'll always prefer the JD when it comes to playing Level 42 bass lines and as far as anything else the Status Range Of Bass Guitar's are of amazing build quality & sound but its definitely the JD for me when playing Mark King style bass lines... Its akin to Pino Palladino not playing his Fretless MusicMan Stingray during his popularity during the 80s with Paul Young/Go West/Kate Bush & many more as there's no way those iconic fretless bass lines from Pino would sound as good & have the same effect if he had played them on a different fretless bass guitar as certain bass guitar's do have a specific signature sound that you can easily recognise once you hear them & this includes the JD/MusicMan Stingray/Wal MK1 or MK2/Matsomoku made range of Aria Pro & Elite Bass Guitars just to name a few... Sweet instrumental & an added bonus is hearing that iconic recognisable sound from John Diggins bass guitar's, whether its the Roadie/Supernatural Series 1/2 or 3 & all of his other models of JD Bass Guitar's... In light of this still ongoing coronavirus stay safe & Healthy wherever you are in this world... .....
