As part of the suspension and handling upgrades, I replace the lower ball joints on the polo.

After doing 140,000 miles on the original ball joints, I thought it wouldn't hurt changing them over for new ones!

You didn't need to dremmel that top nut - just use another spanner to hold it in place while you undo the bolt from beneath

Good bro! so you dont have to remove tie rod ends? and i see you didnt turn the stearing wheel for better access, why is that so?

I didn’t have to remove the tie rods but you Might have to it depends on how easy access is 👍🏻 I did turn the wheel a few times but that must have not transferred to camera very well
do you need to put the car at riding height and then tighten the bolts ?

Generally you don’t have to put the weight of the vehicle on the ball joint to tighten it up. However some vehicles might have special instructions so always check with auto data etc For the polo I’ve always replaced them with the car in the air and tightened them up whilst in the air and never had a problem Ideally you’d want to check the tracking afterwards too 👍🏻
Where did you get those blue vw center caps? Been looking for some for my 9n3 for aaages

Just went on eBay mate, they are the 55mm ones. They do require some sanding to fit properly but they look spot on 👌🏻

yeah the car went for tracking after this was done.
