Tracing the entire 50km of Vernon's Grey Canal (BC, Okanagan)
The Grey Canal is one of the Okanagan's most ambitious historical projects from the early 1900s. It is a 50km long irrigation canal complete with stone flumes, 18 trestles, a tunnel through a mountain and numerous wooden stavepipe siphons. At one point, it was the longest gravity-fed irrigation system from a single water source in all of BC. The Grey Canal was fundamental in the development of Coldstream and greater Vernon.
On this very long day we embark on a quest to trace as much of the 50km route as humanly possible. Some of it has been restored into a walking trail, some is hidden in the bush, and some engulphed by fields of private farmland.

Great video and overview of the canal! Thank you !
Nice tour. 🤙
Great story again Steve. Beautiful country. The only thing missing from your videos is that yellow rectangle at the top of the screen. It's worth it

The theme song from yellow rectangle would be great too.
The company i work for, we maintain parts of the Grey canal trail and on summer days when the weather is hot, walking the trail, with various tools and holding a 14 pound weed wacker, your arms and legs really get a good workout 😎 very nice area and views 👍

Wow! Thanks for all the work you guys do. Fantastic to have these long trails.
Nice video. I had no idea the canal was so extensive. I was just wandering on the Blue Jay/Turtle Mountain portion Saturday actually. If you noticed the sole Canadian flag right after that boardwalk cliff section as you entered in Turtle Mountain sub division that's my parents place :)
