I think Tracey looks truly elderly in this skit and her acting is so poignant. She is just amazing.

I am French, and I have just discovered Tracy Ullman. She is brilliant and so cute as an old lady!

Tracey Ullmann is great, but her elderly mother is magnificent... i want that actress in more things!!!!

Reminds me a bit of my grandmother, she could hold a vendetta against someone for a slight that happened 50 years earlier.

Same here. My grandmother had a best friend for a long time. Then that woman once said something to her and just like that the friendship is gone. She even crossed out her name in the phone notebook etc. And never until her death (which happened about 40 years later) she revealed to me or my mom what exactly happened, what was said that angered her so much. But given that we do know the exact reasons for some of her other grudges, it was probably something minor.

Who plays the mother in this. Her facial expressions are priceless.

Joan Linder is credited as "Kay's Mother" in several episodes of "Tracey Ullman's Show."

I love this woman so much, best comedian ever!!

The older actress is the one that fell down the stairs in the IT Crowd. Nice to see an older lady still working her craft!

Tracey is a legend. And I'm glad to see Kay again after all these years. Kind of sad we didn't get to see much of her other old characters on the new show though. I'd have liked to see Where Sydney Kross or Fern Rosenthal were years later.

I know this is comedy but it makes me sad because I know of two women like her. One was withdrawn and shy and she was taking care of both her parents, they didn't care that she had no life of her own. When her mother died, she had to leave her job to take care of her father who had gone blind. Her whole life was that of a caregiver and her parents would always dominate and make her feel guilty if she wanted some kind of life. We would invite her out, and she said she couldn't go. So this skit and other skits like this on her show bring that back to me.

I became friendly with the Elderly Mother of a friend. She confided in me one day that one of her sons was to a Soldier and another to the husband of an old lady who went to bingo!!!

Kay's mother (who at "103" looks and acts amazingly younger), who begat Kay by a "sailor" whose name she did not know, is, if anyone, a "trollop."

Oh boy, there would be war.

Oh poor, yearning, bowl hair cut, stuck in the clothing style of 1978 , values of the codependent spinster with a albatross geriatric HAG of a lower middle class city burb semi detached residing that is this creation of Ullman’s called : “Kay”. The reality is there were an awful lot of these gals around the SouthEast of England. That sofa is beyond. I’m glad to see this frump again these days on the show she is hilarious. And drawn with incredible detail.

Maybe she was faking. It should be noted that Kay worked in paper products in NY in the Fox show. She was in a bank in California in Tracey Takes On. She gets around, Our Kay. lol

Somehow I can imagine Kay on the set of Taxi looking for a long lost cousin and finding out it's Louie.

I wonder if Kay's mom is lying about him not being her Dad bc she looks panicked when Kay and Debbie are talking about Kay visiting family in Australia.

This is crazy to watch on so many levels. To see Kay would care enough to change her hair; saying "mum" instead of "mother"; to even see the actual mother on-screen. Oh, Kay 😂

Her Australian accent is APPALLING.

This scene made me wish that she would’ve did like she did in the 90s with Kay’s mother and keep her off screen and silent. This scene was just mean and hurtful because Kay is one of my favorite characters and seeing her happy makes me so happy. Was disappointed that she didn’t get a chance to travel far from home for a little while

D Mira Tracey owns the character. Kay started out as a sketch on the British show Saturday Live. She’s revamped her four times now.
