With reference to the video, it has long been a source of debate whether Queen Elizabeth II speaks German. Having grown up around German-speaking relatives, it's hard to image she doesn't have at least a partial grasp of the language. Not to mention the fact that her husband, Prince Philip of Greece, certainly speaks German and has many close relatives still living in Germany.

Lol @ die Deutschen, die so tun, als klängen sie nicht so. Ihr müsst es einfach hinnehmen, ihr habt Akzente und das ist nichts, wofür ihr euch schämen solltet. Die meisten Deutschen, denen ich begegnet bin, hassen ihre Akzente wenn sie Englisch sprechen und tun alles, um den weniger auffällig zu machen. Meiner Meinung nach klingt der süß und intelligent.

Funny. But she does not get the accent right. Mrs Merkel comes from the Northeast of Germany, they have a German dialect of their own which will influence their English pronunciation (if they do speak English at all :-). And it is nowhere near Tracey's accent in this sketch.

This is very funny. I just think the impersonation itself is not very accurate.

Enri E ich habe Parodien von Merkel aus anderen Ländern geguckt. Die verarschen Merkel auf die eigene Sprache und man kann ihre Mundart immer nachmachen. Sowas merkelmäßiges gibts definitiv im Englischen. Na ja, egal, ich schätze hier ging es vielmehr um die Britische Politik als um die der Deutschen, welche den meisten Briten völlig unbekannt ist wie den Deutschen die Britische Politik.

Enri E sehr viele Menschen in England kennen Deutschland nur sehr oberflächlich. Das gilt auch umgekehrt. Deutsche und Briten interessieren sich halt meistens eher für anderen Länder. Ist leider so.

However, the last word I would think of when decribing Merkel is dumber, especially when you consider she is a former research scientist with a doctorate in physical chemistry. I would say Merkel is probably one of the most smartest leaders in the world today. How many world leaders can say they were awarded a doctorate by writing a thesis on quantum chemistry?

This is terrible. She looks like Merkel, but her voice is no way close to the original. And as a German I have to say: I still hear a strong British accent under her attempts at trying to sound German.

+irregardless You´re right, the kind of speaking don`t fits to Merkel. Merkel has a special rhythm of speaking, slow and often without any Intonation. Nearly every single sentence, or to be precise, every single word pitches low at the end, not high.
