Toys and Joys 1929 Ford Stake bed Truck Part 4

While the original intention was to have this build series air on only Tuesday, I have decided that I will air the 7 episodes back to back to allow those of you who are interested and want to build your own, a chance to follow along instead of having to wait 2 weeks between episodes.
So without further adieu, I bring you part 4 of a 7 part series on making the Toys and Joys 1929 Ford Stake Bed Truck build.
I hope this series provides you with enough instruction, to give you the confidence you need to make your own version of this model.
If you haven't, please consider liking and subscribing to the channel. Click the bell and then you won't miss notifications of future episodes of the show. We have a lot of fun here every Tuesday and Friday and I hope that you will consider becoming a part of that.
As always, I want to thank you all for tuning in to the show. I truly appreciate it.
If you are interested in the Toys and Joys pattern for this truck, you can find it here. toysandjoys.com/82-1929-ford-...

    The truck is shaping up nicely. I like how you problem solve out loud so we can be on the same page while we are watching. Some youtubers just play music. You have to read their minds lol. That is why your shows are so much more beneficial to watch. They are also very entertaining. When you stated "if I thought the process out...". Or something like that lol. That just makes the show a cute above most others. LOL! I wasn't thinking of your channel name...really I wasn't lol. Take care Ken!

    Glad that you are enjoying the series and my style of filming Michael. As I've said before on many occasions, I try to make a show demonstrating HOW to do something. I'm not into shows where you learn nothing and it is just a "Look What I made" show. Some folks like a quick, fast forward video, that teaches nothing and there are plenty of examples of that on the internet. My show isn't like that and maybe that's why my subscribers aren't as high as other channels. Maybe people don't want to take the time to actually learn something. LOL. Glad that you are one of the ones who wants to take the time. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

    I can't say for 100% certain Marcelo but I just checked their site and it looks like they have several plans that are new for 2021. One of them being the X-wing fighter from Star Wars which I built not too long ago. (Pictures of the build are on the channel's Facebook page). Hopefully that have a good line up of plans for 2022. Time will tell.

    As a begginer, I find it very helpful to watch the entire video segments because there are alot of cuts and shaping of parts that I wouldn't have figured out on my own unless I spent countless sleepless nights trying to figure out the best way to make the parts that aren't simple like the angles of the cowl to hood to radiator. So just know that for us begginers these videos do help alot because it eliminates the frustrations and allows us to visually see how its done safely with a touch of professionalism. I'm currently working on a few things with my finnances and can't wait to by this plan along with the other video series you did awhile back on the KW truck n trailer. Once I get those plans I will go back and rewatch all of each series and follow along! Thanks for being a great teacher! I look forward to each new video!👍

    Excellent technique in creating the guides lines for the cowl, hood, and radiator shapes. You are spurring my interest in giving model building a try. Great advice in customizing tools (sanding blocks for one) to get the shape as it should be rather than "winging it".

    The completed project looks amazing, but seeing this project come together is equally as impressive. This may be about the most thorough tutorial I’ve ever seen. Your hard work is definitely appreciated. A little off topic, my new shop is like yours I have heat in it but it gets cold out there and I’ve been getting some rust spots on my new table saw, I’ve been cleaning them up asap and coating the surface with Boeshield, just curious if you have the same problem? If you don’t I might make the switch to Autosol (or how ever you spell it)

  • @acutabove_woodworkings

    @acutabove_woodworkings

    Thanks for the kind words on the series and the project Randy. I appreciate it. As for the table saw, having a shed where things are not climate controlled can be an issue for cast iron surfaces. During the warmer months, I run a dehumidifier in the shop in the evenings to try and cut down on the amount of humidity in there and avoid the rust issues. I also have gone away from things that are considered a "quick" coating. Product like "Glidecote" work well but I find that they don't last long when there is humidity involved. By far, the best product I have found to polish and seal the cast iron surfaces is the Autosol metal polish. The stuff is amazing and after using it, I have not had an issue with any rust whatsoever on any cast iron tool. It does take a lot more effort to use, but it lasts 10 times longer and the effort not only protects the iron, but it polishes it as well. Between the dehumidifier, the wood stove (in the winter) and the Autosol, surface rust on my cast iron is a thing of the past. I hope that you give the Autosol a try and that it is as successful for you as it has been for me. Here's a link. www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/tools/supplies/polishing/67014-autosol-metal-polish?item=54Z1510 Thanks for tuning in.

    @@acutabove_woodworkings thank you for your response, my garage is pretty much the same, I just installed a ductless heat pump a month ago but to keep the electric bill down we shut it off when I’m not in there, I remember from past blooper reels it sounds like you do the same, go out start a fire and start your projects. In the summer I plan on running the ductless in Dry mode which is like running a dehumidifier instead of running it in cooling mode 24/7. I’ll be ordering Autosol this weekend

    I must have missed something here..why did you route out the back of the grille if you then cut it all out with the scroll saw and replace it with a darker piece of walnut ? Thanks…

  • @acutabove_woodworkings

    @acutabove_woodworkings

    2 жыл бұрын

    I routed out the back of the grill so that a darker piece of walnut, with the routed grooves could be glued in place and make a seamless transition between the grill and radiator frame. Routing the grooves of the grill would be next to impossible to get perfect if it was all cut from one piece so I did it in sections. I hope this answers your question. Thanks for tuning in to the show and taking the time to leave your comment/question.
