Naturally aspirated 4.0 gas motor, but Toyota is set to release a supercharger any day now 😂.

The 4Runner and the GX460 are both LandCruiser Padros. GX460 is a Luxurious Padro and the 4Runner is a simplified version.

That recovery 6:30 is nice.

thanks...but be careful...im sure youve heard all of the reviewers state "the SR5 is for LIGHT off-roading'.....a&^%$holes... Stock SR5 5th gen owner myself...and love every dirty minute of driving it. enjoy...

Awesome vid, would like to get a group like this with my Land Cruiser buddies and go on some adventures. I notice the age group among 4runner owners are a lot younger than LCs. I'm the youngest, sometimes i feel out of place.

Arnaud Chevalier: also take a look at the Falkens Wildpeaks AT3. I went from KO2s to Falkens. I do heavy desert bombing & rock crawling & i am a big fan of both. But overall i pick the Falkens. Just my cents. Hope you enjoy ur Trail edition, I've got a 2012

I always recommend either Toyo or BFG all terrains. Those 2 have done great for my experience

The RTT on the rear vehicle at the beginning appears to be an OEM roof rack. How did the RTT do up there? I see a lot of people using RTTs with aftermarket racks but I'd prefer to use mine with the OEM, I just haven't tried it yet. My RTT is about 140 lbs, not very large. Thoughts anyone?

It works fine. It's just harder to strap things up, like the tarp. There's no a lot of room to get your hands under

Nice video! I wish I got my 4runner BEFORE I moved from Utah :(. Northeast is the worst place for outdoors, no BLM land, no free camping, no off-road trails...

Honestly, the reliability for the 4Runner is as legendary as Toyota would want you to believe it is with all their vehicles. That's not really the case in all the vehicles, but the 4Runner is pretty bulletproof. Oversized transmission, a proven engine, and the finish is top notch. I've put 25,000 miles of trails, backroads, mountains, and some hard hits on the frame and sliders and it still doesn't rattle. Ironically drives better with the bilstein shocks on a 2" lift than it did stock. Less body roll in corners. Quicksand was only available in the TRD Pro trim level during 2016. You'll not be able to buy one new, but you can find a low mileage used. Low mileage 4Runner will be about the same price new, but don't fear. If this thing gets anything less than 300k I'll be shocked. And mine is in for an adventurous life :)

Lee Mims That's so amazing, I don't know any other car that has such good reputation of good reliability! And yes I didn't know that the quicksand is only available in 2016 :/ I guess I'll just get a black 2017-2018 off-road premium and add couple things from the Pro to make it look meaner... the good news is that they want to give me good trade in value for my Corvette so I will end up saving money and driving a new reliable car.. seems like a win win lol

What kind of exhaust does that silver 4runner have at time (2:13)? Sounds beefy as it made the crossing over the water. Cool video

RazorFX similar but a 4runner is just higher quality man, its not a Chrysler

410 Trail Runner Canadian Overland a couple of us weren't, it was a cool day so we weren't worried about it. Running hot is where you run a greater risk

mikksup ya that's what I was thinking. The c4 looks great with the Baja bar, but the midnight series from rigid I think would look slick on my rig that's magnetic grey and blacked out! Midnight only comes in double row tho, so may have to have to customize the cut out
