The 1980 1st Conference was memorable for the introduction of the 3-point line and the mid-conference trade with Crispa/Walk Tall that sent Adornado to U/Tex which led to this. The handicap that is 1 import a time carried on for Toyota and Walk Tall, Great Taste dominated the 1st half of the elimination round with the import tandem of Jim Hearns and Lew Brown and the acquisition of Estoy Estrada. However, they regressed later and both Toyota and Walk Tall occupied the top spots as usual with Great Taste and U/Tex notching the last 2 semis slots. Toyota and Walk Tall continued pace beginning the semis at 2-0. Great Taste though continued their downfall, not winning a game in the semis. U/Tex however surged winning the last 4 games and got the 1st Finals slot thanks to the quotient system. Toyota and Walk Tall ending at a similar 4-2 engaged in a tight sudden-death match with Toyota winning I believe by just 2 points. Finals went an interesting trend, U/Tex winning Games 1 and 3, while Toyota winning 2 and 4. Game 4 though was controversial as Manotoc took out his starters with deficit still within reach, and coined the phrase 1 step backward 2 steps forward. Alas went to this historic game that Toyota just blew away, and the curse of 1980 plagued them with 2nd place finishes also in the 2nd (Invitational) and 3rd (All-Filipino) conferences.

Just glanced at the first 5 minutes of this gamr. Didn't know that there was no corner 3's in the PBA in the past. And it seems the other team had 2 imports while the other team only had 1? Was that really a rule? Not fair to the other team, if it was. Or was it just the team's option to only have 1? Imports also look taller, or maybe the PBA players were just a lot shorter.

The time out cost them. It was only while watching this video that I realized it. Check the inbound after the deficit was cut to two, arnaiz cleanly received the inbound and everyone was still playing. Then the horn sounded nullifying the inbound. Had there been no time-out Utex would be forced to foul arnaiz, who was already making a bee line to half court and he was Toyota's best ft shooter at that time. But we can't change the past. Good game though. This was a classic, too bad it came at Toyota's expense.

Imports also look taller, or maybe the PBA players were just a lot shorter.
d ko malilimutan yan napakasakit na talo ng toyota 16 sec. lamang ng apat natalo pa
pba ngayon langaw!hahaha
Daming missed kaysa shoot lol
Ito yung kinikwento sa akin ng Papa ko lamang ng 4points ang toyota 16secs. Left nagdiwang na sila para sa Championship.. Pero inagaw ng U/tex!! U/Tex dont give up!! I miss you Pa 😢 kung nasaan ka man mahal na mahal kita Papa 😢🤍
ay nakita ko si deles
Larong Ba******. 😁✌️
Iba pa 3 point line
Still 10s left, 1 lang ang lamang ng Utex, bakit hindi nagfoul ang Toyota eh nasa penalty na sila? Even if Utex made the 2 FT makakabalik pa sa kanila bola. Pwede din magmissed 1 or both FT.

shooting foul pa nga dapat si Bogs against Abe King dun sa last 2 seconds sa regulation time eh... non-shooting foul ang tawag ng ref tapos eh no time left na daw... LOL... why did Bogs even foul King in that play??? medyo malabo pa ata ang mga diskarte ng mga players noon... hahaha

Not counted yung last shot ni bogs adornado and they’re leading by one point before that shot try to watch the video carefully b4 making comments
As a Toyota fan, this is painful to watch. My instinct is to blame tuadles but now I think it's his teammates fault for not rushing to tuadles' aid so he wouldn't have to make such a long pass.
