Toyota Supra Model Car Full Build Step By Step

1/24 Toyota Supra model kit: amzn.to/3Btxz49
Hey guys, in this video I will show you how to build a 1/24 scale Toyota Supra model car by Tamiya. This MkIV Supra is one of my favorite Tamiya kits because a very detailed 2JZGTE engine is provided in this kit, with very little efforts you can produce a great looking model.
I have had this kit for a while but it has been sitting in the storage room because I was not sure what form I should make it into. I have seen many modelers customize it with bigger turbos and wider body kits, some are kitted with Fast&Furious Supra transit kit, those builds are really cool but after spending some time thinking about which direction I should go with this Supra, I have decided to just keep it bone stock and paint it my favorite color.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the video and don’t forget to subscribe to the channel.
You are welcome to watch my other builds on my channel as well.

5:15 The paint and body work really is a lot like the real thing. Over in the auto painting world, we call that first coat a "tack coat." You only want to spray enough to make the surface tacky. I must say; Jun's painting skills are impressive.

I’m also thinking about putting different rims on this than the stock ones as I don’t like the original rims, But I don’t know how to tell if they will fit or not. Hope I was clear enough and thank you! P.S. I love the mini garage thumbnails

For beginner you don’t need a lot of tools, simple tools such as side cutters, craft knife, sand papers, glue and paint are basically all you need for your first kit. As for wheels you can modify other wheels to fit but the easiest way is to glue them on the brakes. But since it’s your first kit, I wouldn’t worry about the result, just enjoy the process and experience.

Hey Jun I was wondering what wheels you have from the instagram post you posted. I have the same exact model sitting around and wanted to build it. I’ve been looking for some wheels for it and was wondering if those just clicked in and fitted perfectly or if I would have to do a bit of modifications on the wheel and the wheel wells. Thank you for providing me with such a great video,

For this model I use the stock wheels out of the box, you can use different set of wheels but unless they have the same fitting you will have to modify them to fit. Tamiya has male fittings but Fujimi and Aoshima has female fitting, so If you have wheels of the same brand most likely you can swap them out easily, if not then the easiest way is to trim the mounting point of the wheels then glue them onto the brakes of the car, but they won’t roll anymore. If you want to keep them rolling then you need to modify them. Inner fenders don’t usually need sanding but they might if you wanna slam and stance it. Hope it helps :)

Do tamiya kits need glue for assembly or can you just “snap” the pieces together?

JUN, what is a good cleaner to use if I accidentally get fingerprints on my model car windshield when I’m building it ?

I usually clean finger prints with auto detailing products. The “quick detail” type of cleaner works well for me. For windshield I usually clean it with micro fiber cloth with a little bit of quick detail cleaning solution.

what glue do you use to put together painted parts...??? because i use tamiya thin cement (orange one) and my paint work always come off like im using paint remover and it makes every thing go muggy and stuff so i was curious how you get your painted parts so good???

I used BSI super gold plus which is a super glue. It works well for painted parts, it won’t frost clear parts either. Just be careful when applying it to the parts because it’s still super glue. If you apply too much it will still spill and create a mess.

Is there a reason for using airbrush for the primer and a spray paint can for the rest? Why not use airbrush for everything? Sorry if its a stupid question, Im still new to this

Question, what exact glue are you using for your headlight and taillight lenses? I'm planning to build one of these but as a 1/24 RC drift body and will just be doing the exterior.

Hello! Could you tell me what thinning ratio do you use with those Tamiya's surface primers and at what psi? I can't find it right :( Do you use Laquer thinner to thin it?

I don't know about tamia paints but I guess they use a general plastic primer with acrylic paints and clear lacquers. For all these products, paint thinners would work (not general thinners as they will melt plastic sometimes). It's really upto you to decide the ratio. Typically about 1:1. You have to test and see what's ideal for the surface. The more thinner, the another it will come out. But also more likely to drip so got to go light.
