I used to writes instruction manuals for wiring analog TVs, VCRs, and stereo equipment. After I wrote them I would ask a friend that was not technical at all and when they came up to a point that was unclear, I would take note and clarify my text. It appears you have done this many times as everything was crystal clear, in focus, and logically presented. Your use of auxiliary lighting, camera/phone support with a fluid or fluid effect head, with a clear and precise voiceover was fully appreciated by this viewer! Kudos for a phenomenal video.

I was able to avoid the masking tape altogether. Just pull the coiled spring out of the roll, insert it into the cavity, with enough length, it will not spring back. Slide the cupholder in, and boom! You are done!

I'm not sure what got stuck to make my cupholder not open, but after force prying it, there was a strong magnet phone holder in the driver's side cup which would have been directly on top of the metal retractor, probably making the tray unable to slide. I also removed the air controll module and side seat heater/charger port for more visibility. Thank you for taking the time to post this! The card idea to slide out the tray was genious.

My cup holder would not close because a plastic clip fell into the slot, so it could not reach the latch. Thanks to the video, i was able to retrieve my clip. And close the cupholder. But then it got stuck, so i used a pry tool to pull it out again.

This happened to me but with a 100 dollar bill! Thank you!

I had this same thing happen. Used a pry bar to get it moved forward then opened like normal while applying pressure to pry bar

This helped me get the cup holder out of my 2011 Sienna. My problem is not lost items, but the cupholder won't stay closed. There is a little piece way in the back which clearly engages with the main cupholder. It is supposed to be spring-loaded to one side or the other? If so, which way? Is this something that can be repaired? I fear that I'll have to remove a whole lot more of the car to fix it. Pointers to other relevant videos appreciated.

i just fixed that problem, there is this little gear(4:17 in the video is where the gear is right beside the really sharp coil thingy. It clips backs in) at the underside of the cupholder. Mine popped out and i just had to push it back into the cupholder and it was fixed.

I had the same problem where my cupholder would not close and lock in place. Got it out with difficulty and found a yellow clip (think it was not supposed to be there) that looks like it may have caused it not to close. So what about the pin that looks like it may be supposed to be spring loaded one way or another? Any additional info appreciated.

No need for masking tape. Just insert the spring into the slot with enough length and then insert the cupholder.

Hi, is your Sienna running into audio problems? Currently my DVD player isn’t working, I had to unplug it in order to get audio from speakers. Do you know if the DVD needs to be fixed/upgraded? Thx

Red Bus 75 yep, it seems to be a common issue with this JBL audio system, I’ve asked several audio car shops, they all say I have to replace DVD player and we’re talking about $400 - $700 so because I don’t have that money right now I bought a cheap headrest DVD player on Amazon ($140), for my 4 year old who’s constantly watching kids shows...whenever i earn extra money, I’ll fix the rear entertainment system....
