The only FUN brand JEEP is missing. Look at a $130,000 Maserati Lavante then look at a $22,000 jeep renegade or $32,000 jeep Cherokee limited/Trailhawk. They all share the same material same screen same buttons built on the same assembly line

2.2 MILLION people got a new JEEP or DODGE last year. People like fun cars and now that they’re made by Maserati the last 200,000 miles not to mention I daily drive a 2001 Jeep Wrangler with 164,000 miles that’s had one issue in the last four years. That’s because I don’t beat the jeep up off road like a lot of people do Why are we doing things like boring Hondas that sold 700,000 units a year they’re not even close to jeep sales. At least they’re not comparing those awful Subarus

I bought Toyota rav4 on 2007, this car costs engine oil, even when it's new. I don't know car very well, when brought car back to cast hills Toyota Sydney to do service to tell service people, they pretend nothing happened. It's after 7 years, I know from another car service yard.

I would agree with this statement, very modern. It's missing key components that could help separate it from the competition even more. Ambient lighting is a key missing safety feature Why? it's been proven in many studies to a reduction in accidents.

Most of these reviews never talk about long term reliability, ownership experience,aftersale support, cost of spare parts and resale value. Those things really matter when you buy cars in this segment.

Brah, long term reliability is not a word. Its meaningless. People use that word but don't understand its meaning at all. A car will start to break down after 100k miles. 200k miles is way too much for a car anyways, and the cars made today should be ok for 300k.

Absolutely right! Reviewers nowadays even give “ reliability” tests on 1-2 year old cars..... how stupid is that? Also, the more “features” just means more “costly” repairs down the road! All these Reviewers are just pushing the price of cars up..... making them not affordable to working class people......if people want “features” in a car ........freaking buy a Lexus/BMW, etc......Leave the lower-end cars alone and affordable!

CX5 for me... it’s 95% Japan made, it’s the closest to driving with luxury feel, it’s the fastest , the most beautiful and its not a CVT and definitely no longer controlled by Ford.

Cx5 with that J Vin is a winner for me. Reliable and feels luxurious and sportier, the kodo design wins over the other ones. A non CVT will be overall better than its less Reliable competitors

I agree apart from the CVT bit. Toyota CVTs are arguably the most reliable and efficient automatics on the market. The fact that the Mazda isn't a CVT is the only thing that puts me off.

I bought a 2021 Nissan Rogue SV new in 2021. I absolutely love everything about it. It has plenty of power and it’s very comfortable. I love the interior and exterior styling. I have owned it for two and a half years and I have had no problems with it.

I researched high and low for a suv within my budget, great reliability, cargo space, and decent gas mileage. I ended up getting 2020 RAV4 and I love it so far! Difference in opinion, but informative video 🤷🏽‍♀️ loved your comment inside the rav4 “push for normal, but I’m still weird” 😂😂😂

U.K. comment. Have just bought a CRv hybrid (Sportline) - just love the smooth quiet driving experience particularly at low speeds. Fantastic space front and back not to mention the boot. This is my 2nd CRv and I’m so glad I stayed with Honda & didn’t change.

I chose CX5 over the other brands. Engine power and driving experience is the most important thing for me, also it has an elegant interior and exterior look and the cargo space is pretty enough.

I spent one week with the CX5 Grand Touring because my MX5 NC was being worked on so the dealership loaned it to me. I'm so glad they did because now I'm buying one, the Carbon trim level.

BIG HEARTS go out to this hilarious, practical, realistic, Smart couple! I like how you present your feelings/opinions of cars and how you try to stay balanced in cross-evaluations. However, please consider cutting the background music. It's not loud enough to hear but still sounds vaguely like wind chimes - distracting while not unpleasant. I kept asking myself "Is there music playing somewhere else in the house?" Would love to know the "Price as Tested" when doing comparisons. I'm a fan and ACTUALLY LOOKING for a small SUV for the family. I need one small enough for tooling around town, yet large enough to pack for the beach for a vacation. THANKS!

Really no bad choices in this segment. I ended up with a new Subaru Forester. Not because it's the best, just the best for me. So, try them all and go with what works best for you. Everyones needs, tastes and priorities are different. They are right about the Mazda being the better drivers car, though. The turbo is fun - but expensive.

Good Lord I love the banter of these two. Not only informative, but entertaining.

I really enjoyed this review.

We are driving our 3rd CX-5. Yes a 2014, 2017, and now a 2021. So fun to drive! 5 Star Safety Rating.. Averages 28.5 mpg....Looks Great, And never any problems !.... If you are 80+ years old... get the CR-V. But for this driver....the Sporty CX-5 is for me !! (and we are now 67 years old)

@@Striker50_ The CVT transmission was redesigned in 2021. It is now chain driven like the Ultima, and no longer belt driven. Review by unbiased various engineers applaud this change and feel the issues stated are in the rear view mirror. Nissan listened and responded.

Since 2017 I’ve purchased 2 🤷🏾‍♂️. People don’t buy as many cx5s because they have no idea what they are missing, but it’s still the best selling vehicle for Mazda in America!

@@2up2down14 relax, dude, it's not like is the ultimate car. it's pretty inside and outside, most reviewers say it drives great, it's a Mazda so it's reliable, and it has A/T! however, the rav4 and the crv do the same, and more... maybe much more. that's why they both combined sell over 800K units each year in the US alone. if I had to buy a new cuv, it'd be hard between the Mazda and the Honda, just for that A/T alone

Realistically, I have never needed to use the touch screen in my Mazda CX-5. The scroll wheel is pretty much loosely based off of BMW’s iDrive format, meaning you can scroll and get around the menus quickly without touching the screen. Changing the radio or going to navigation/Bluetooth is a matter of a couple tactile clicks. Nobody is trying to type a destination with one hand while driving 80mph on the freeway anyways. You’ll be using CarPlay or have set a destination prior to driving.

anybody that rips on the scroll wheel hasn't used one. Had a CX-5 for a week earlier this year. Now I'm irritated with having to reach over to a touch screen

And that is how you do a auto review, fun and informative.

Great stuff! I'm looking into buying a car, so far CX-5 seems the best match for me but that's a side note, the thing is because of that I watched a lot of reviews lately and honestly I love your's guys! It contains the right amount of information, it is packed in a way that...is just pleasure watching, I didn't feel like I've been watching a video for 30 mins and I want to get off the laptop, it was more like watching a movie. Thank you! Great evaluation confirming what we felt. Exactly what we experienced test driving both the RAV4 and CRV at dealers yesterday. You nailed it with the description of the RAV! I'm a die hard Toyota guy, but neither my wife or I were impressed at all. CRV hands down with ride and drive!

having used wireless CarPlay in a rental Tahoe, the Rogue is the ONLY one in this group I would consider. Will not buy another car without wireless CarPlay. But for some reason this isn't a focus with most reviews I've watched. I absolutely loved being able to hit the start button and within seconds my phone is on the screen and picking up right where I left off. No finding the cord and plugging in the phone. Gamechanger for me.

CRVs have always been very specious in my opinion. My mum had one when I was a kid.

Layout in the RAV may be old school, but it works! Less distractions while driving.

Rogue for me... the '22 model is even surprisingly peppy performer over the previous year.

Physical controls are definitely safer than using a touch screen. Like a tactical surface is easier to recognize by touch, than a smooth touch screen.

@Biological Warfare Sorry man, Toyota and Honda are too complacent; they are not as reliable as they used to be. The premium you pay for these two brands no longer adds much value. The money they ask for some basic options are just plain greed.

We are getting 33 mpg with our 2019 Nissan Rogue! We love this car and we get between 33-36 mpg driving 80 miles a day! I think this guy is nuts when he is talking about the steering! I have driven many vehicles including trucks and have at least 2 million miles on cars and trucks and I cannot figure out his problem with the steering.

Why do people care about cargo room.. I rarely carry cargo in my car unless im moving or something I would never notice the less cargo. If I was actually carrying loads of stuff weekly then I might look into a bigger car or pickup.

I used to have a rav and hated it. Bought the Mazda and it's been fantastic steering is favorite so good. Plus interior 👌👌

I really liked my CRV because of interior looks, mileage & good ridding quality. It's great car for daily driving. Wide & comfy seat. Good grip handle so smooth riding. Just one thing I dont like it's lagging when i need boost power. But good mileage & smooth riding . Just live it !!

My wife and I recently leased a CX-5 and we prefer the knob over touchscreen, however, that doesn't happen a lot because we use google assistant most of the time

How quiet was the drive in the CR-V? Was road or wind noise (especially on the highway) fairly loud or surprisingly quiet?

I haven’t watched an Edmunds video in a hot minute. I will say this lady is absolutely hilarious and I’d watch her review anything.

I have the same exact Rav4 tested in this video and I must say, I highly disagree! The car is so much fun to drive and maybe the steering wheel felt stiff was because she had lane tracing and steer assist on, which really does make the steering wheel feel heavy when turned on! I only use lane tracing and steer assist on highways, and never on local roads. MPGs are amazing (averaging about 38MPG combined)!!! Overall, I had the choice of whether I should get the CRV or Rav4, and my decision was the best decision I've ever made!! This video makes it seem like the Rav4 isn't all that, which is totally unfair!

Not tried rav4 yet but I automatically agree. But 38 mpg?? Is it a hybrid? Cr V uninteresting. I test drove a crv couple years ago when I was considering it over returning to Outback. It was like a toy car, tiny engine, tiny space, couldn’t see out the back, tiny rear window. Just looks, visibility, etc. etc.

Agree XSE RAV4 hybrid best model. Drive's great, nice stiff chassis with TNGA platform. Got 235/55R19 wheels and tires on mine and handles even better while keeping smooth ride over rough pavement and potholes 😊

Job well done keep up the good work I would like to see a comparison with the Acura RDX AWD and the lexus NX350 AWD I want to know which is the better one.

CX5 is all around winner and with a real auto transmission so the reliability will be better. I own 2016 CX5 and the only real issue I have had are brakes on all four corners. Those were rusted badly due to NE salt but I did those myself for around $220 for 4 rotors and pads.

I’m guessing NE is New England here and not Nebraska. Don’t have a cx-5, but salt/rust killed mine during the quarantine when my car would sit for long periods of time too. That scraping sound when I would move or brake had me so damm worried, lol

These two reviewers are GREAT! I hate that the CR-V took the top spot over the CX-5 but nonetheless this was very informative and entertaining to watch. Always do comparisons together.

Most of the top review sites love the CRV. Maybe it's not the best in any one category, but really is the best all around for this segment. As much as I liked the CX5 styling/driving feel, I got the CRV because practicality is key for this class. No oil dilution or heating issues after 4 yrs.

I would be really interested in seeing how the headlight systems work at night. That would be really helpful!

I feel like the Rogue wasn't really given credit for all the features it packs in as well as essentially matching the CR-V for space and the CX-5 for quality and style in the interior. No mention of its fully digital gauges, heads up display, and it has a 3rd rear climate zone, which no other offers here. But somehow the CR-V comes out on top while feeling older and lagging in tech? I don't think drivability/performance should be ranked so highly here... the focus should definitely be more on ride quality in this segment. Sure the Mazda has a nice interior and drives sporty, but obviously cargo space and practicality are prime in this class, hence its much lower sales. I think the Rogue offers a balance of everything, yet, as noted overachieves in the interior and feature content... but somehow it's 3rd place?

Edmunds is notorious for its unabashed bias toward Honda and against Nissan. Their rankings and reasonings never make sense. I remember an old comparison of the Rogue vs CR-V where they praised the trunk of the CRV as "cavernous," but the Rogue's as "merely average" - when there was less than a cubic foot of a difference, and when the Rogue had the super convenient divide-n-hide shelving system and the CRV had nothing but a trunk. 😂 It's things like that and like this unexplainable comparison result, as many others, that clearly show their bias. Pay to play, maybe? It's known that Honda has a huge budget set aside for paying automotive authorities off and for keeping recalls and problems quiet.

It blows my mind that people seem to think things, people and companies can't change. It is undeniable that their latest products are leaps and bounds ahead of their last generation, lackluster products. But by your and seemingly the majority of everyones logic, because it has a Nissan badge, it just simply can't be a solid product. Smh.

@NSX 55 Don't even waste your breath man. It'll take 10 years before people stop hurling the CVT issues. I find it funny that Nissan has finally started putting out some good product and people will avoid giving any compliments and bring up the CVT issues. Let's not forget about the CR-Vs oil/gas mixing engine problems. Can't imagine when something like the new Pathfinder comes out and it won't have a CVT. What will they say then? lol

Cx5 is more sporty and fun to drive. Cx5 signature turbo AWD is my choice.

CX5 is a real SUV in that list which has a good amount of driving fun. A car reviewer if he considers HONDA CRV as a Small V - understand there is something wrong. The most sluggish bulky elephant is Honda CRV

@@jacob679SD You haven't been paying attention to recent history. Toyota's have had over a million faulty 8-speed automatic transmissions, which has caused a class action law suit against Toyota, and then there's faulty fuel pumps. The Mazda was rated by Consumer Reports as the best car brand in 2021, and the most reliable car in 2020.

I’ve rented 2 Nissans in a week now, Rogue 2019 and Altima. Never driven a Nissan until now, but really loved the handling and ride of both cars. Might consider one after further research.

@@Lobsterman5481 It does. I bought a brand new pathfinder years ago and a week later dealership replaced my transmission. I ended up suing Nissan and they bought it back from me!!

I'm thinking of getting the CX 5..I haven't had a car in 8 years because I live in NYC..this review helped though..I love turbo engines and I'm big on the overall driving experience. I wish it had more room though but it's just me single..no kids

I would love to see a video where you take each of these SUV's to New England in February after a big Nor'Eastern and repeat that driving test.

Just bought the Mazda CX-5 signature and it’s head and shoulders above the Nissan Rogue and Toyota RAV4 . Our other vehicle is a 207 Honda CR-V touring which is another awesome SUV to own. It’s our third CRV we have owned..

Old ones were great and very dependable, newer ones not so much. Can't wait to dump our 2018 CRV

But Rav4 sells more than competitors, because in long run toyotas are more reliable.

I’ve had a Nissan in the SL trim and it beats Toyota and Honda in options and up to date technology. I like that my SL comes fully loaded from the factory with not having to pay extra to add anything. I’ve had nine problem free for five years and am already getting quotes for a new Nissan SL or Platinum trims.

Didn't the 2021 CX-5 and CX-9 get the updated Mazda Connect infotainment system? The screen is larger and the interface & resolution is drastically improved.

@DanceThisDanceThat No... The CX-5 is also updated with the larger no touch screen w/ dial control.

I tested a CX-5 and the CR-V. One felt like a road boat, the other like Zoom-Zoom! I got the zoom-zoom!

I like the CX-5 the most! The backup cmaera is different because that is a signature trim, with the touring it works and looks much better! Hope you see this! Hondas are almost to classic, Mazda's are kinda cars that some people don't know that much.

I have a night vision problem. Which has stronger lights? as I can see, CRV has smaller front lights but unsure how other factors do. What’s your advice?

Seems like part of the reason people buy vehicles like these is for their all season capabilities. It would be interesting if you could evaluate there bad weather traction functionality . I have only compared it to Subaru but my new RAV4 compares well. I suspect its all wheel drive well be useful when we take it camping. So far I’m averaging about 38 miles per gallon with the hybrid, which was the main reason I got it

The Rogue definitely sold me in this video. Absolutely perfect from every angle

Until the CVT fails.

I drove the CRV and it comes up short on power and acceloration. Rav4 was my winner with power 203Hp and a 2.5 engine. very good acceloration. I just bought it.

CX5 highest safety rating and 12 speaker Bose stereo with Apple CarPlay. What else is there to consider?

Bought a CX-5. Drove way better than the CR-V and quieter than the Rav/Rouge. No, not the best Infotainment Center or max cargo, but its fun to drive and uniquely combines sportiness with elegant styling, especially in Soul Crystal Red.

Just bought a 2021 CX-5. Old car was 2007 RAV4. Really disappointed in how little storage space there is compared to the RAV with it's spare tire mounted on the tailgate.

Why did you buy it then? I have a 2021 CX-5, too, and I've hauled everything in my CX-5, from hundred$ of dollar$ in groceries, to many bags of dirt, to 8 foot wood posts, to 30 cinder blocks.

Since all 2021 SUV'S are hefty pricey, as I am planning to purchase one, would u recommend Mazda CX5 2018, 2019 or 2020? Two-year-older I prefer. Please help me make the decision. Thank you & I appreciate you.

I got a 2021 CRV LX for my winter beater.... and I love it. Super cheap to fill up, has enough power to merge on highways. Storage is nice. Only thing is that I wish it had AWD. I owned many cars like SRT Jeep, Hellcat, Jeep Compass, BW 650, Jaguar XJ, Porsche 718, Mercedes S550.. but this CRV is probably the most practical and budget friendly on gas and upkeep.

the updated rogue looks like a bang for the buck, i love how it looks in the exterior and also the interior with all that quilted leather

Having test drove all of these when it came time to buy it was between the RAV4 Hybrid and CX-5 for me. I ended up going with the CX-5, but the RAV4 is definitely a great vehicle.

I love car reviews and watch many of them on the tube reason being i try and change my car every 5 years.Love suvs but i am sorry to say your review on these suvs falls short.First they are not small suvs.Small ones are the nissan juke,pug 2008,ect.These are midsize to large.In most the reviews i have seen,specially in Europe,where i live,the winner tends to be between the CX 5, Rav4 and Hyundai Tucson, VW Tiguan,pug 3008.The honda although great on reliability does not fair better than the above models although they all say it's not a bad choice.Personally i drive a CX 5 and love it to bits an amazing car its a 2018 model.I thought of changing around 2022 and thought a CX5 would be my choice again till i saw and drove a new RAV4.Those 2 cars are the best and i more or less decided that this time it would be the RAV4,till 3 days ago.That's when i saw the new Hyundai Tucson.Seen it but not driven it and looks wise its amazing.The honda does not get close to any of the above 3.Just my humble opinion but i bet i am more correct than you.Don't mean to be harsh but felt i had to express my opinion.Stay safe.

I always appreciate an honest effort and a service like rating cars. Just not crazy about this guy dunno why. Anyway I’ve driven the CX-5 and it is awesome. I did feel a little bit of ground friction while driving it like you do in many American cars, but still awesome. My problem is I’m 54 and my visual acuity is not what it was. So these new car rear blindspots I just can’t deal with. Same with the Hyundai Sant Fe. Also cool car, but I can’t see. Anyway the Honda CR-V I was hugely disappointed with. The ride, the dash etc just hated it. My solution for this market is the Subaru Forester. The new CVTs I’m sorry they’re just not an issue for me. Only problem with the Forester is the colors offered are lame overall, but a great car unless you really need the higher horses.

During my own test drive, I thought the RAV handled and accelerated like an odd truck. Not awful, but not something I could confidently rely on like the Corolla I was looking to upgrade from. I knew how to handle my trips on the interstate to L.A. and all the nuance with it. The RAV came nowhere near that level of drive predictability. The CX5 handles closer to a car and the drive always feels lively (even with the base engine). The only thing that feels off is the U-turn radius. My point, thank you for perfectly describing how the RAV feels: like asking a teenager to do a simple chore.

What does it mean though? That it does not turn when you turn the steering wheel? Teenagers ignore you, not sure how can a car ignore you. For acceleration I can understand that different cars would have different throttle response for fuel economy, but not sure what you mean when you say steering is unpredictable.
