Toyota Major Service How-To (Coolant, Transmission, Oil Change, Spark Plugs and Filters) 2022

IG @nick.nakai
In todays video I show you how to do a Major Service on a 2019 Toyota Camry. Includes Coolant exchange, transmission service, oil change, wiper blades, air filter and cabin filter, I also replaced the spark plugs. This service at the dealership would run you about $500 on a 4 cylinder Toyota for everything besides the spark plugs and wiper blades. Follow this video to save some money and do it yourself. Super Easy job that requires very few tools.

    Tech tips for the peeps that want to do this themselves. -Hybrid transmissions are not the same as non hybrid transmission. Fill procedure is different -when doing drain and fill procedures, always open the fill port first, then open the drain. Especially if you live on the East where there’s a lot of salt on the road.

    I remember that was the first thing I was taught when I started working at the dealer: Make sure you are able to fill before you drain any fluid. A simple fluid change will become a disaster real quick. (I'm in Quebec, Canada so rust is really a thing here).

    I reviewed the video several times but did not see a way to flush fluid out. When I did it on my tundra I drained the pan and over filled it with 8 qts, then disconnected a line in the front close to the radiator to get the nasty fluid out of the torque converter and system. With that said which line on this trans mission should I disconnect to get old fluid out of the cars tranny torque converter and system once I fill it like you did in the video?

  • @LetsDriftMedia

    @LetsDriftMedia

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@misterbean8213 I’m sorry I didn’t read your first question entirely. If you want to flush it then yea disconnect one of trans lines at the cooler not sure which one comes from the trans or goes to the trans but should be pretty easy to find out once disconnected. Might make a little mess. But just make sure you have fresh fluid constantly running back into the trans to avoid running it dry. We hardly ever did actual flushes at the dealer it was always drain and fill.

    It's because most people at dealerships don't know how to talk to their customers and instill confidence that they are recommending needed services. That whole schtick of "it's lifetime fluid, it doesn't need to be changed" is complete BS. If people that worked at dealerships just knew how to converse with customers without coming off as sleazy salespeople, it would be different.

Should I hook up an OBD 2 Sensor to check exact transmission fluid temp (hot ATF expands and cold ATF contracts) that could change the amount of ATF that drips out the fill plug? Just drain the inverter and fill the reservoir back up and run the vehicle with cap off to let bleed or use a vacuum bleeder. • @LetsDriftMedia

    Sounds false to me, running the heater just allows a valve to let coolant flow through the heater core located beneath the dashboard, The hot coolant running through the heater core allows the air being blown past it by your cars blower motor to allow hot air to be blown out your vents into the cabin. If that was true, then I guess you could possibly "ruin something" anytime you ran the heater in your car which makes 0 sense.

    Does all Toyotas should have the frame that holds the Cabin Air Filter. I own a 2010 Corolla and it doesn't have the plastic part on it and I always feel that the filter is always loose.

    I've watched a Toyota Master diagnostic mechanic called the car Care nut, and he always insists not to turn on the heater, and there's no need to do that during coolant change process.

  • @LetsDriftMedia

    @LetsDriftMedia

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes, change the drain plug washer and fill plug washer. You can get away with re using them since they are not crush washers on this trans but it is still recommended. plus they cost pennies for a new washer.

  • @TJsVette

    I dont believe you did the fill procedure correctly on the coolant. There is a hose that you were suppose to pull first and fill until the coolant starts to come out of the hose then put the hose back on and fill the rest of the way.

    I think you may be thinking of the toyotas that come with bleeder screws on the coolant pipe, not sure if this one had one but even so you only need to do that if you are having difficulty bleeding the air from the system usually.
